Beautiful and very quiet part of Northumberland. The North beach parking at the golf course can get busy and you have to pay for parking, the South Beach is free parking, however the road to this part is diabolical and totally destroyed. Its more a gravel road with very big pot holes everywhere. I drive a 4x4 which is high off the ground so have no problems, but I've seen normal road cars get damaged as they don't have the ground clearance to clear the massive holes in the road. However, if you do navigate your way through this minefield of a road, you will be welcomed to the best beach in the North East by a long shot. Alnmouth village its self is a spectacular little village with some awesome pubs for real ale, and awesome cafes for good tea and coffee and of course good scones and cakes. Great day out in general.
Just a quick reference to the above mentioned car park: you can no longer use it. The council have put up 2 wooden barriers to stop cars from venturing down to that car park. Which is a shame as its the best location for the beach and generally quiet. People are now parking along the main road and walking down to that stretch of beach. To which the council has now made that stretch of...

There's a beautiful golf course at Alnmouth overlooking the sea.Unfortunately I cannot review as have not...
Read moreAlnmouth has long been popular with both local people and those from Northumberland, Yorkshire and Southern Scotland. It is easily located off the Alnwick turnoff on the A1. The village is located on a land spit above the River Aln estuary and it has has a small and scenic natural harbour. Most day trippers park at the inexpensive beach car park across the small links golf course, and make their way to the main street which includes four pubs, a couple of cafes, a couple of other shops and a small village convenience shop which is open 'till late, plus a couple of gift shops. There are many small hotels and a few bed and breakfast establishments and self catering properties. The village has its own thriving community. Bird spotters may linger near the bridge at the entrance to the village which is on a short circular walk. Catch a good weather day and...
