I live in Bath where independent cafe's and deli's are rife yet very similar. I visited Scott's on a trip to see family and found it an all round great place to stop off. They not only offer great coffee for coffee snobs like me, but also a lot of in house made breads, scones, and pies etc. It's great to see that they also support local businesses from the surrounding areas, offering everything from craft beers to marmalades, cereals, and cured meats. As an establishment it's easy on the eye with upmarket decor. There isn't a substantial amount of seating available but to be honest you would come to expect this as the building is clearly several hundred years old. Finally, when I was there an elderly gentleman sat down and couldn't find anything that he particularly wanted from the menu for breakfast. A member of staff came out from the kitchen and offered to make porridge especially for him (which I couldn't even see on the menu) which shows great...
Read moreFood excellent. Coffee lovely. That's it's saving grace really. The shop is attractive and always queues so it's popular. Service however is not my idea of what I expect. There's an air of unwelcomeness, aloof, snobby, unfriendly, being a nuisance vibe. First time I have been in. Blonde lady behind the counter eating from a bowl. Gentleman doing coffees was a bit friendlier (a smidge) I wasn't offended, I just think it's the way they are. I have a shop and I'm enthusiastic with customers, I am possibly comparing because I feel it's important to be friendly in shops because customers remember. Anyway, the food and coffee are amazing so I will likely go back and overlook the service. I don't like giving bad reviews but maybe they do need to look at their attitudes in the economic climate and people don't have to eat out, and if people are cutting back on spending on luxuries, this...
Read moreWhen walking in to the shop, I noticed I was the only customer in. I started to look for a menu board. I couldn't see one. I asked the sales person if they had a menu, I was asked "WHAT DO YOU WANT. I said a tostie,(Previously had one from the same place, it was really nice). I was told they don't do toasties. I asked what sandwiches they did, I was told look in the fridge, at the same time this person raised there eyebrows sucked there teeth and looked utterly fed up.
I found the attitude of this staff member enough to make me feel my presence was not wanted. We left with a negative memory.
I hope this is a one of, but as the place had no other customer at the time, I fear it...
