What a place this is! We arrived in the town of belper and parked up in the free coppice car park. We then made our way trying to find the elusive memorial gardens! We took a couple of wrong turns and ended up down a big hill in some grannies back garden. We went back on our tracks, somehow found a random footpath, and like abracadabra, bobs ya uncle, aunts ya fanny we were in the beautiful memorial gardens! Here we setup shop and were part of the audience watching the Aspire Wrestling alliance putting on a variety of shows for all the hundreds of local belperites in attendance. I must say pal, the weather was a little weird today, we experienced everything from rain 🌧 cloud ☁️ to beaming hot sunshine 🌞 3 portaloos for anyone needing to spend a penny, a popup bar and plenty of live singers were all in action here today. The madhatters would of been a proud bunch today, the event was a massive success albeit being a little wet early doors 🚪 the bread woman on king street sold all her loaves.........she best get baking more for next year! Read moreA pleasant garden to visit when in Belper. The gardens are dedicated to those Belper folk who made the ultimate sacrifice during war for their country. There's a war time bunker underneath the lawns, but due to Eleven Saphti it is rarely open to the public. The flower beds are well maintained by Belper Town Council and usually have some kind of display. Over these lockdown periods, my wife and I have bought a takeaway coffee and sat in the park and enjoyed an hour chatting and taking in the beautiful area .
