Build quality of the ramps are far worse than what your eyes originally see, hidden bumps and querky transitions make for a dangerous and unpredictable air for most of the ramps you'll hit. (from a bike riders perspective)
The skaters usually find the street section mildly better than the old park due to a few additional obstacles. It's obviously good enough by the usage it gets and good times people are clearly having on it.
The jump box section is far too skinny to be considered safe, especially if one is to land on the hip they put on the side, the quarter pipe afterwards is not air-able without professional level of skill and still is not enjoyable to ride or possible to keep your speed using. The whole park seriously lacks lines and it hurts to think regardless of politics and pricing that actual riders and skaters built this thinking you could gain enough speed or even sustain speed using this section.
The midi ramp section is built pretty good, fair transitions and rides really good, plenty of width and is built to a good standard. If you're nearby it's worth checking out.
The vert ramp segment is far to bumpy to train on if you're looking to start out or get a feel for vert riding, it can be done of course but hey, there's a reason I don't see hardly anyone using for more than just a thing to pump around to gain speed.
Overall I'd suggest 35 miles is the furthest distance to make this park...

This skatepark is right next to the children’s playground so that means it can get pretty busy with people. There is a lot of young kids on scooters trying to annoy skaters and go into their path so be aware. The biggest strength of this park is the massive bowl. It has got two sections, one is the deep end with about a foot of vert and it’s about 15ft deep with normal metal coping and there are two hips that connected to the smaller part of the bowl which is only about 8ft deep. There is also a smaller 4ft bowl / mini ramp area, great for learning stuff. There is not a lot of street area however you will find one double set of stairs with a rail in the middle, a couple of grind boxes, pyramid, radiuses and also a waxy curb. I really enjoyed riding this park especially the bowls as I love just cruising around them. I would definitely recommend them if you are a big bowl lover.

Read moreAfter needing a new park for years, its sad to see the councils huge budget get largely wasted here. The main feature here is the bowl which ranges from 6ft to 11ft, with a simple layout but done well. The handrail and ledges are simple but effective. However much of the street section lacks lines, and has too many intersections which make it dangerous to use when busy. The jumpbox is narrow and leads to a fairly useless quarter, and many of the other obstacles are either too small or too tightly crammed together.
All in all this was a classic case of a council being conned by fancy 3D CAD drawings. I would like to see councils look to the many amazing DIY parks around the country in future, for a better indicator of what the skate and bmx communities actually...
