We went to bolton abbey mid afternoon bank holiday Monday. We didn't take a bbq (wished we had after smelling everyone else's). Even though it was very busy, there was still parking to be found with grassy areas next to the car for a kickabout and a picnic. The entrance fee was ten pounds for a car. There is a cafe there, which we didn't utilise this time. We have visited before and had tea and coffee from there. There are ice-cream shacks dotted round .. The raspberry ripple and vanilla are both delectable. We walked towards bolton abbey and skipped stones in the water. We didn't venture across to the abbey as it was a very leisurely afternoon.
