Catton Park is in my opinion one of the finest in the world for walking, relaxing and enjoying nature with its varied landscape, lovely woodland and even two nature ponds.
RE: cones blocking parking access during Covid-19 lock down. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MOVE THESE CONES TO ALLOW PARKING ACCESS. SEE ATTACHED IMAGE FOR COUNCIL CONFIRMATION OF THIS, OR CONTACT THE CLERK SARAH VINCENT.
Following a long a painful exchange with the local parish council they have finally conceded that the cones can be moved to allow parking, although the council themselves refuses to move them (and despite being aware of the dangers they are causing, continue to move them back). Confirmation of this from the Clerk of the council Sarah Vincent is in the attached image.
I will personally remove the cones where possible, however the council do insist on putting them back. If you wish to help by moving these cones, please see the attached image confirming that you have every right to do so. Additionally you can move the cones if you are visiting and the cones are blocking your ability to park in a safe and considerate position.
This is particularly important on Oak Lane where cars are parking on the bank leading to Mile Cross Lane. There is a restricted view around that corner which makes parking here and forcing one lane of traffic particularly dangerous.
For background, the cones were placed when it was unclear if parks could remain open on March 23rd, and the council's stubbornness/ego have resulted in them remaining in place despite further clarification that parks must remain open. The cones now serve no purpose other than inconveniencing visitors and local residents. Despite pressure from myself, other local residents and visitors to the park, the council refuse to admit their mistake, however have conceded that the cones can be moved by anyone for any reason.
Please be respectful to the council and move the cones to the grass banks parallel to the road on which you are parking. Please also ensure your parking and exiting/entering your car allows safe distancing from...
Read moreWow, such a hidden gem! I visited with my dog on a Friday morning around 8am. There’s a small car park by the main gates—it has very limited parking, but there were plenty of spaces when I arrived.
The park is beautifully maintained, with plenty of bins for disposing of rubbish and dog poo. There are several paths, including one paved route that runs from the main gates to the back of the park. The other paths are grassy or dirt trails, clearly defined and easy to follow and all loop back round to eachother so you won’t get lost. They were quite wet and muddy due to the rain, but still lovely to walk around.
The park is fairly large, and thanks to the many paths, you can wander for quite a while, always discovering something new—maybe even stumbling upon one of the statues on display.
I’ll definitely be returning, and my dog thoroughly enjoyed herself too, with...
Read moreAfterc50 years visting this area of Norwich I never knew this beautiful gem existed! I found by accident walking around to kill time while my car was being serviced at a nearby garage. Its a wonderful oasis in a busy city and ring Rd in a mad world. Sadly it looks as if very limited parking available unless another entrance that i am unaware of, but i was on foot so no problem and it's kept beautiful and seems safe as plenty ladies walking dogs on leads, as in city's large park's and woods can be places of danger if unpleasant characters wondering around. However on my walk all was well and its beautiful! This place must be Norwich best kept...
