Staff are friendly, food is lovely ect and although we have been numerous times before and its usually quite busy, especially with birthday parties I feel yesterday was actually dangerously busy. We arrived at half 10 for a birthday party, there were people standing on the rink holding the bar for ages making it hard for others to pass who need help by holding on, spectators were blocking the rink entry/exit gaps making it impossible to get near to help my child across those gaps. By the time we left at half 12 all the seats were taken up and most of the rest of the floor space was people standing around as there was nowhere for them to sit, we couldn't see the party table as there were so many people standing around the cafe area and trying to get from the cafe down to the exit was near impossible with the amount of people blocking the way (who had nowhere to sit).
I feel this should be looked into and entry limits should be put in place to stop it getting that bad.
I also feel there should be more staff i the soft play, maybe 1 either end, 3 little girls chose not to share the swinging things in the play area and were actually being nasty to those waiting for a turn, who had asked for a turn but these girls went back and forth about 10-20 times refusing to let others have a go. I know that's not down the staff but would help...

CheapSk8 is my favourite way to spend a Wednesday evening - how much fun can you have for under a fiver (if you’ve got your own skates - even then skate hire is only a quid!!!!)?!
The boys that work the rink are always so lovely and kind, quick on the uptake if you fall over and helpful if you need a hand. Gals on the front are good for a chat and very knowledgeable about all the classes and sessions they have to offer.
Soooooo lovely to see it so full and exciting, a good variation of age groups (me and my pals are in our early thirties, but there’s always lots of ages about - where is Dave?! I miss my skate dad. Dave if you’re reading this, come back! We haven’t seen you since pre-2020!) and all the kids I’ve ever crashed into have been in good spirits about it!
I wish I didn’t have to pay for water but hey ho, at these cheap prices they’ve gotta make a bit of extra cash somehow!
I’ve never been brave enough to play the games but they always provide ample time to get your breath back before hitting the rink again.
In short - thank god for you, Funkys - a Norwich institution!!! Good clean fun and ever...
Read moreVery good facilities, but very alienating and not at all inclusive to anyone that hasn’t skated before. Despite there being plenty of staff on duty and some actually skating no one attempted to engage with us or offered any advice or encouragement to myself or my daughter despite us both obviously struggling for 2 hours. I wasn’t expecting free tuition but I would have expected someone to show a bit of kindness and helped us out a little bit rather than totally ignore us. I take part in other sporting activities and have always found it normal to offer advice and encouragement to any beginner who is struggling to learn or take part in something I’m proficient in. An intimidating and unpleasant experience, and I’ll likely struggle to persuade my daughter to attempt something...
