We've been waiting to visit here for a while (unfortunately i didn't research hard enough and we picked a day the trains weren't on (tuesday) so that was disappointing). It was a warm day in the school holidays so we expected parking to be a problem but it wasnt, you can only pay by phone for £2.50 but data signal is weak so it takes a while. Theres a paddling pool with picnic benches around (take some pool toys to keep them entertained) . The play ground is good and has a sand area and ziplines. Theres a boating lake which cost us £8 for 25 minutes, they accept card and cash. You can also buy duck food for 50p in the boathouse cafe, which the ducks love. Prices in the cafe are reasonable. The park is pretty with lots of flowers, bridges and Japanese gardens. The best bit is no dogs allowed so no chance of the kids stepping in anything whilst exploring! I would also like to point out how great the disabled toilet/changing area is. Its fully accessible and theres even a shower if needed. Its located at the carpark and you will need...
Read moreMe and my family went here last minuet before we returned home (out of this area). I intended to head for the car park and pay but i went the wrong way and came across some free street parking right near some gates to the park. We loved seeing all the different type of birds and squirrels being fed by people, i haven't seen that for a while. I'm pretty sure i saw that dogs weren't allowed in the park... either that or they have to remain on leads, maybe thats why the birds and squirrels all seemed so friendly. If you have a bike for your kids this place would be great to go around, or even roller skates actually etc. The play park was excellent, and the toilets were clean!!! I saw lots of park staff around so they clearly keep a good upkeep. Don't drive past this park, its lovely, and I'm sure in summer its even better with the boats. I would come back if ever in...
Read moreHad an absolutely lovely walk despite slight drizzling. The Italian garden is beautiful, the rose garden was lovely too (and smelled deliciously of petals). The water was clear and maintained, I saw people waterboarding out on the lake which was nice to see. I encountered many an animal, a cute little rabbit, squirrels, geese and ducks as well as plenty of butterflies. The facilities such as the boats, and the mini railway were closed when I went, but I was there strictly for a walk so not much bother for me. All in all, the park is beautifully maintained, I enjoyed going around and looking at all the signs and factoids on how the park was built and established. I was also pleasantly surprised on how much seating there was, allowing for a quick rest and time to take in the views. Well worth a walk, Burnley truly has some lovely...
