People of Todmorden; I salute you. But let's talk about the park first.
Beautiful. Surrounded by trees and greenery and a cricket field to your left. There is a skate park (is that what it's called) with a few half (or rather quarter pipes) for bikes and scooters. At the front there is a play area with some excellent features.
There's a zip line that you can launch your kids down at to 30 miles an hour. There's a weird but excellent see-saw type attraction that usea two equally weight children to rotate.
There's a climbing frame and roundabout and swings.
But that is not why this place gets a five star rating. The PEOPLE are beautiful and their children are angels. Sometimes I see teens gathered there and it's a bit intimidating but then my son might walk past and struggle to get on the first rung of say, a climbing frame and immediately one will help him.
So polite and friendly and I apologise for turning this into a race thing but I don't feel the slightest bit 'Asian' when I'm there. Everybody is friendly and nobody judges. And I come all the way from Rochdale and probably pass six or seven parks to get there. Beautiful drive to get there as well.
I salute you people...
Read moreTodmorden / Centre Vale Park is a wonderful, little park located on Burnley road. With many playing fields, an old playground, a skate park, a bike track, memorial gardens, a tropical house and more, the park is definitely worth visiting. We live local, so we take our dog a walk round it fairly often. Joined to the park are the woods, stretching from Ewood Lane all the way to Ridge Road if you prefer a longer, quieter rout. Bit of litter here and there and a bandstand which is slowly rotting away, otherwise though, there is nothing to complain about. Also, they're toilets open 7 days a week with a charge of 20p oposit the playground. Centre Vale Park is home to the lucky dog. When you walk past it, make a wish! This park is worth visiting, we...
Read more4 crown green bowls greens together in one place, a perfect venue for big competitions like the ladies'vets inter county but the facilities are sorely lacking. There is a small clubhouse. There's just one male and one female loo. There is very little seating and no shelter from rain or sun. This is a tragic waste of facilities which could be mounting income. 16 county squads were involved recently and including referees and other officials meant there were over 160 people needing food drink and toilet facilities all day. Just one opportunity missed. How many others could have made money to maintain and improve the venue and provide a top class facility. Grants and support from the local authority could really help...
