The Vedas — Restaurant in Calderdale

We arrived at 6:50pm and ordered food at 7:10pm food didn’t arrive until 8:50pm. The service was diabolical. None of the servers talked and kept leaning over people eating. We had to ask multiple times when our food was coming and only one person didn’t ignore us but told us it was about to come out. This was half an hour before we got our food. The plate was hotter than our food. The food was ok the chicken was burnt. This was appalling service. None of the staff are friendly and they don’t want to listen to you. There was dirty cutlery and dirty dishes put on the table. They tried to wipe the old food off before we noticed it was dirty. We will not be coming back to this establishment as we feel like they don’t want us to enjoy our time and they are just here...

We arrived on-spec having arrived in town by canal. We were advised the restaurant was busy and asked to return in 39 minutes. We decamped to a hostelry and returned later than asked. Advised a tabled was ready but waited a further 49 minutes . On deciding to bail out we were offered the world. Eventually got our order which, on the face of it was very nice. The staff were falling over themselves to make us happy.

Unfortunately 24 hours later, my wife developed D & V which 5 days later still hasn't settled.

This place should be fantastic, we just can't understand what went wrong...

I give 3 stars because the food is very tasty. We enjoyed paneer chaat and kebab starters. Service was extremely slow, even though it wasn't very busy. My main course was wrong, I ordered masala and got Indian Spice vegetables. As we'd waited so long, I took it anyway (and enjoyed it!). My partner's main course was barely warm so he left a lot of it The bill was wrong, they'd added 3 pints of beer from another table. It took them ages to remove the additional £12 but they were apologetic, and did sort it out.
