Fantastic place. I am a wheelchair user and have to say this is the most organised and accommodating place I have ever been to! Simply amazing I didn't like the woman I dealt with at security as she was very patronising and rude about the fact I and an umbrella. However I then was dealing with the accessibility team who were awesome they marked me off at the entrance gave me a band and I then had my own personal escort to the raised platform. Once there I was introduced to Adele who was awesome she explained everything in detail and showed me the access to everything including wheelchair access to merchandise stall, food and drinks along with toilets. Aside from this they had bar staff coming to the platform throughout the performance who would take orders and bring to us directly. Absolutely superb 👌 I have NEVER known this anywhere. What a FANTASTIC example of how it should be everywhere for accessible ticket holders. It really was amazing to see what can be put in place and how much better it can work. There was even a member of staff controlling the toilet queue as the access loo didn't require a key so he was making sure that this was taken advantage of. I wish ALL places did this as a standard. The bands we were wearing Adele also explained meant when attending the stalls meant we would go straight to the front and not need to queue. If this was something that was natural in our culture it would be lovely l as this is something which I have only ever experienced in France as they had the signs up for this when there. The French were the ones telling us to go in front. I wish everyone would follow the lead of The peuce Hall and I hope all the accessible staff are recognised for how lovely, caring and exceptional they were. We had to leave the Corrs show early due to me being unwell however Adele realised and gave us a personal escort. She stopped the crowds and guided us through so we weren't stuck. Honestly I cant speak highly enough for this service and I hope these staff are commended for the work they do as its clearly not just a...
Read moreLoafers in Halifax Piece Hall??? Awesome, amazing and delighted they've got a brand new Cafe! I've only managed to visit them once so far because I really can't stand the noise on Piece Hall days but the band I really wanted to see is now fully booked, however a really good friend has got tickets so she will get me a programme and I can listen from over the wall , if I get her programme too as a gift from me she might, if it's allowed take a quick bit of video for me. I can sit quite comfortably on Southowram Bank and listen to it all. Nowt daft about this Yorkshire lass, we keep what we make and I'd never sell out to a Daily Paper but if I don't get some serious action soon via our new Counsellor who'll push it up the line then it's the right thing for me to do. Sorry, I got a bit distracted there but I've been showing good friends what the Piece Hall is like for donkeys years. We even had friends with stalls every week there too but sadly that's all got a bit too expensive nowbut one day I will be there ticket in hand and preferably when the Top Boss there decides that security is good enough for us to have a Northern Soul Day there. It's long overdue because it's the old Souls who still pack everywhere out regardless of the weather and it'd be amazing for the Piece Halls image 👌 Next time I get to Loafers I'll take some photos so if you've not been there yet you'll see how awesome they are. Cheers Loafers 🍻 and to the Piece Hall? If you don't get all the Soulers a date booked soon then someone else will be busting to take the glory of keeping a bunch of pensioners 😊 Also known in Souling lingo as Keeping the Faith so please do !!! xxx So the Piece Hall isn't making any money? They're filling out town with drunks etc etc from goodness knows where. No bins as all the ones available are locked so more flaming rubbish ruining out Town. If you want this debacle to continue because believe me many locals are far from happy about it at least get your visitors to either use a bin instead of the street or in the grounds of the...
Read moreWhat an amazing gig venue in Halifax! I hadn’t heard of gigs happening here until recently, so I wonder whether they’ve recently started putting on events, but I’m definitely excited to come here again.
We were lucky with the weather, yes, it was warm and sunny, so that certainly helped create the beautiful summer evening atmosphere. But I imagine even with mixed weather, it wouldn’t really spoil things.
The venue itself is a very attractive, old square courtyard, surrounded by small retail type units. Presumably this was some sort of market or trading facility back in the day. They have now set up a large stage in one corner, so most attendees are standing in the middle of the square, with some options for a first level balcony around the perimeter, though I would imagine you might feel a little detached from the event with those tickets.
There was no official seating, but plenty of places you could sit down around the edges of the venue and on steps, if you weren’t happy standing all evening.
It was a perfect size crowd for a gig (we saw the American rock bank Weezer) - not too huge, but plenty big enough to hear and feel the roar of the crowd singing along with you! Great selection of bands and acts as well. Seems to be a lot of bands from the 90s and 2000s as well as the odd slightly more modern band.
Very reasonably priced tickets, particularly compared with some of the ridiculous pricing for bands in the stadium venues nowadays. I think we paid around £60 each, including fees.
Be warned, the food inside the venue is very expensive (around £15 for a portion) and fairly small portions, but it was actually very good quality food, so that was fine for us. Either eat nearby first, if you want to save money, or maybe eat something at home before going out, so you’re not still hungry after the venue food 😅
Would highly recommend this venue for gigs and I’m already looking for our...
