Super disappointed as first visit and was really looking forward to it. The place was clean and looked nice. Bramble cocktail delicious. One toilet per sex (not great for size of place and having to queue in a small corridor with men and women not ideal). The menu had changed since we booked and I had my taste buds set on the prawn and scallop linguine, however it wasn't on the new menu so as there wasnt anything else i fancied I asked for the scallop and ham hock starter as a main and ordered onion rings and fries as sides. I received a few tiny scallops and a piece of (? Breadcrumb coated?) Ham hock that was so hard I couldn't cut with my knife and fork in fear it would fly off my plate, knock some other poor diner out and bring attention to my table yet again - after having a medium glass of rose spilt all over me by the (sincerely apologetic) waitress - so attempted to chomp down on it using my fingers. Classy. Anyway chunky chips nice. Onion rings tasteless. One friend ordered what she thought was a type of posh cheeseburger, but it didn't have any meat in it. She said it was nice it was just odd as she expected some meat in there too. Another friend ordered chicken burger and said it was worth the quite long wait. The other two in party ordered chicken supreme and as theyd never been before either asked what the portion sizes were like and if theyd need to order starters but werent really that hungry. Anyway the waitress went to ask the chef and he said usually they came with about 3 potato's but he'd put 8 on their plate lol however it came with about 3 potatoes. The chicken supreme diner's said although portion very small it was lovely. I won't slate the spillage of the drink too much as it wasn't a glass of red all over the cream trousers I was wearing and we got our first drinks knocked off the bill so I think that was an adequate apology and everyone else on the table was quite happy I had wine thrown all over me to get a...

Read moreWe went for Mother's Day afternoon tea and it was awful.
The scones were dense and closer to hockey pucks, and everything looked bought in, Not home made.
It was over £30 per person and that did not include tea. You had to buy tea separately despite it being afternoon tea! Unheard of!
It cost as much as Betty's, it is disgraceful they charged £200 for all of us for some stale scones, no tea, cheap prosecco and bought in cakes.
The vegan selection (despite costing more) was awful. The lemon possets had separated so the oil was floating separately. The "bean quiche" has no flavour. The "vegan cream" was like sweet shaving foam.
I didn't even want the vegan selection but they had no vegetarian option. I asked nicely if I could have real cream and scones but was informed I couldn't because it's all bought in.
Absolutely awful. I am not the sort to leave bad reviews but I was really let down by it. Really not a good experience for mother.
Whoever organised it...
