Has everything you need for a weekend shop. Asda, marks and Spencer and b&m for groceries. There's pets at home and the vets, tkmaxx for those who like a bargain designer bit and there's even an outdoor store which is amazingly priced alongside a gym, hobycraft and many other shops. Unfortunately there is a plan to knock this place down and build a science park so lots of locals, including myself, will be loosing this haven to a higher bidding project that suits Cambridge better. I believe there are petitions about and talks about plans which keep changing. Ultimately I think that the public would prefer this stays as it is as it's very convenient and essential and much easier to navigate than the town centers. (Also worth noting that the same thing is happening to the Grafton Center over on Burleigh street, which was built in place of a much needed housing project called kite project, and all because the developer gave the highest bid and most attractive pitch. Many families tragically lost their homes to this re-development in the...
Read moreThis shopping area has some great shops. M&S, Next home, B&M, and Asia are a few of the names. Unfortunately, Toys R Us has gone and Maplins is in the closing down process. My main purpose was to visit M&S, which was a good store with an instore cafe. Parking is good with plenty of spaces. Currently, it's free. The reason I have given only three stars is this: there is only one exit, and at busy times it can take half an hour to leave the complex. There is a time limit of three hours. So, if you return to your car to leave before the three hour limit and you are caught in the traffic jam, you could potentially end up with a parking ticket in the post, as you have breached the three hour limit. There are anpr cameras at the entrance / exit timing you from the moment you drive into the complex right up until the moment you drive off the complex. You have...
Read moreUnfortunately it seems the Beehive Centre maybe closing in the future to make way for work/ office space. The beehive Centre has free parking, a poorly laid out car park, small selection of shops and public transport in the form of a bus serves near here. Cycle parking is not secure in Cambridge, many thefts take place, Beehive Centre included. In my opinion, Cambridge is rubbish for shopping and you'd be better off shopping elsewhere. The beehive Centre itself, has a small range of shops but for locals it meets our needs. In recent times, our councillors declined approving a retail park being built in favour of local shops in a town called Northstowe (which, 4 years on, still doesn't have a shop). I am unsure of the long term plans for shopping in the area. Cambridge has many wonderful places to visit but...
