Went for dinner Saturday and really loved the food and service. We were asked on booking if we were there to watch the football and placed on a table away from the tvs which was really nice. Spacious garden and covered marquees so really comfortable for eating outside. Food was excellent. Adding further to my review on reading one of the previous as I want to confirm that the service was excellent. So good in fact that my boyfriend and I were joking that it was like an episode of black mirror where an 'alexa' type droid (an upload of your own brain) gives you exactly what you need at the right moment before you even think to ask for it. We were shown to our table (the other side of the garden from the pub) and given a few minutes to browse the extensive drinks menu before another server asked for our order. I was happy they had a range of hard seltzers and a greek beer I knew my boyfriend would want to try. The range of craft beers, cocktails and other drinks looked fab too. There are so many options on the food menu that I had to look quickly or I never would have decided (so much more than just pizza and burgers which is why we went there and I'm sure they would have been delicious), within minutes of the drinks arriving a server took our order and it wasn't long before our starters arrived. I'm not big on seafood but the mussels in white wine were excellent as well as the caprese salad with prosciutto. The mains, mousakka and white fish were really tasty and filling too. And we ordered the trio of desserts to share and probably would have ordered another trio as I'm not really a dessert person but these were really too good to share. We observed that the servers were attentive to all tables on saturday, at one point it looked as if there were five to a table which I imagine was the table in the previous review. I never tip usually as it tends to be included in the price in the uk, but after paying for the meal and realising the option to add extra gratuity wasn't on the reader I asked if we could pay £10 tip for our meal (more than 10% of what it cost). We had a fab date night at the restaurant and would definitely go again. It felt very covid secure and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends. They must have expanded the garden because I couldn't remember it being so big when I last went (2013). Thank you all for a...
Read moreAfter seeing 'The Corner House' menu on their website, my Italian friend and I decided to come here for her first ever full-English brunch on Sunday. The place was exceptionally clean and organised. The décor and atmosphere was lovely. And there was also a very sweet cat mooching about, which added to the character! After flipping through the menu we couldn't see the brunch options and realised as it was a Sunday and they changed this for the roast. We asked a very nice waiter about this. He spoke to the kitchen and the head chef came to speak to us and she explained it was only roasts however she would make an exception and cook us the 2 full-English breakfasts. And advised us it may take a while. We were more than happy to wait and were extremely appreciative of her going out her way to do them. We ordered coffee and in hardly anytime the breakfasts arrived!! I have to say, it was the best breakfast I have ever had! Everything was cooked beautifully and incredibly fresh. My friend loved her first full-English, we spent about 2 hours here chatting. All of the waiting staff were extremely attentive, discreet and we didn't feel rushed. We also thought the price was extremely good for something so large! So thank you again for accommodating us and going above and beyond to give us a wonderful experience. We're very grateful! We highly recommend you! We shall be back but with...
Read moreI popped in there for a pint a couple months ago, and the barman snidily tried to charge me £25 on the card reader for a pint of Guinness, i only got my money refunded because I caught him. I've recently seen Green King advertising for new owners to take over the premises. It needs it, get rid of the horrible witch running the place into the ground and get some actual atmosphere in there, its like gods waiting room. I'd been having a drink with the owners of another couple pubs locally and they said the dyke running the place (their actual words) is horrible and that barman Spud is notorious for ripping customers off with the card reader. The fact a pint of Guiness is £5.95 and he typed £25 into the card reader, thars not even a mistake he could make. They really are not liked by the other landlords in the area. You only need to look at the reviews of anyone that's left a negative reply, instead of the owner taking constructive criticism, she will belittle and slander the customers. Bitter horrible woman. For the pubs sake I hope Green King do get new ownership take over because the pub in it's current state...
