Really enjoyed coming here. Never been before despite having lived in Essex all my life. The beginning of the museum is dedicated to the Essex Regiment, then gives the history of the house itself and its owners and wildlife, and then on the history of Chelmsford. We enjoyed it very much. There were a few things of note to me and the children: The first was an active beehive where you can see the bees behind a perspex cover working away in the beehive, and watch the bees coming into and out of the hive. 2nd was an interactive map where you could look at Chelmsford at different stages of its development, showing old maps overlayed with a modern map. 3rd was a film showing a burial and how items from the burial would have degraded over time, with the actual items on display next to the video.
Outside the museum are nice gardens, and a park with swings and slide for the children to enjoy too.

However, that can only be a good thing as it will improve future exhibits. Very clean. Keith, a volunteer, was a mind of information giving us a couple of interesting facts. The cafe looked good, however being half term it was full so didn't get to experience it. Parking was easy, and there was a lift inside. Best of all it was free!!...

In one way, it is very interesting to see how in the 18s century UK smashed evey country it could encounter. The museum itself is well made and many pieces of art and...
