Been going to cineworld for years. When I was little, growing up and now with my little girl. Paid to see a film today as a treat. I’ve taken five guys and other food from exterior companies into Sheffield. Staff knowing and being fine with it. My little girl asks if she can have some food around 30 mins in. So I leave to go and get her a hotdog and nachos but look at the prices. I decide I cannot afford to be buying those. Spending enough getting to see the film in the first place. I leave the cinema leaving my daughter safely with my partner inside the cinema. Watching the film. I said I would only be a minute. Went over to McDonald’s which is 1 min across the Carpark. Buy my little girl a happy meal and milk. When I return I am told when entering the cinema I am not allowed to take the food in. I ask why. I am told it’s the rules. I asked what the rules are and why? I explain how often we visit Sheffield and how it’s never been a problem. I explain it’s for my 5 year old. It’s only a happy meal. I am told by a “manager” because it’s not food purchased on site. And because of the smell? This manager, WILL! Was not understanding one bit of the situation, made an assumption very incorrectly but hurtful that I had left my 5 year old in the cinema on her own!!! Then give me some story about how all he can now smell McDonald’s and it’s filling the room?! So he sent someone to go and tell my partner I wasn’t allowed back in. They had to come out and speak to me. I sent them back in so they didn’t miss the film and had to wait an hour for them. Then to find out the kids sat behind us had been to Mac Donald’s half way through also…eating it on the back row….they haven’t been told not to go back in! Absolutely ridiculous!! Will should not be a manager with the way he speaks to customers!! Also the cleanliness of the toilets and public areas are atrocious! I have photos of all but can’t...
Read moreMy visits to the cinemas are few and far between these days. Being in the 21st century ensures people don't know how to behave in a cinema, because apparently no one can escape the clutches of Facebook for the duration of a two hour film. However, being in the 21st century also moderately ensures that interior decor and hygiene standards roll with the times. That isn't the case in Cineworld Chesterfield. The floors are sticky and in desperate need of ripping up, the seats are absolutely shocking (never known a more uncomfortable cinema experience as last night), and the toilets are rank. For a business that turns over millions a year, how have you not invested in energy saving power dryers? I work in a small office and even we've got one! Apparently, ushers no longer exist in mainstream cinema. All of the awesome little independents still have ushers, which means that morons who talk, use phones and generally have no respect for their surroundings get warned, and then ejected. Midsommar was an awesome movie, but I spent half of it listening to some absolute moron rustling a packet of Doritos, chewing with his mouth open and then throwing the packet to the floor, only to jostle with it using his feet. The other half was spent listening to the two idiots next to me talking at full volume about the fact that the film shows full nudity. We've all got genitals - grow up. Cineworld is a dull franchise. Another overpriced corporate factory that puts no investment into customer comfort. Squashing us up against the seat in front to get as many ticket sales out of a screen as you can. Do yourself a favour - go to an independent theatre. Much better customer service, cheaper prices and people that actually respect cinema without feeling the need to see how many likes their latest selfie has drawn in. Cineworld Chesterfield - it's 2019. Time to dress up your cinema and pull it into...
Read moreTo whoever this may concern,
I have left Cineworld chesterfield Derbyshire half way through the black panther new movie (3 pm showing) as I have felt intimidated and upset with two members of the team that have abruptly interrupted the movie! I missed two parts that were important and there for left! In the beginning there was a group of about 20 young males aged 11-15 through adverts as you can imagine they was a bit loud. A man approached the kids shouted at them. He then went on to tell the staff. The staff did come in and tell the boys. Since the movie started the boys were all behaving. As I understand it’s their job to come in a check they are behaving. The two male in doing so (Alan team leader and cam shop floor) come in and made there appearance know which then distracted two main parts of the move. The second male (cam) come in and stood staring at me which made me feel intimidated! I am a 29 year old women. Not a child! However I did have my 5 year old boy with me he was sat on the floor making no noise. As I left the screen for my child to go to the toilet in which the young males helped holding the door for him to enter and exit the toilets. I approached the members of staff in which cam was extremely rude putting words in my mouth and lying saying my son was climbing all over the seats! To which the reply from the manger John I believe his name was. Was just replying with I wasn’t there. Now I’m sure we all know about the customer is always right. And everything I was saying was being pushed to the side. I unfortunately left the movie before it was even finish. I am upset and disgusted in the staffs behaviour. I totally agree there are rules and policies in place. Being a manager myself. I do not feel as if it was handle correctly or professionally one bit. And I will never be returning to that...
