Really friendly staff each time I saw them, on the first night they showed me on a map all the places I was interested in visiting. Its great location, not far from the castle on the main shopping centre (and its right opposite forbidden planet and a Harry Potter shop, right next door to a Costa and sainsbury, there's a Tesco a little further down the road if you prefer to sainsbury). The cleaners were friendly. I really enjoyed my stay. Only two and a half negatives: the kettle had to be put on the floor to plug in and use as the plug socket was too far away from the shelf unit (I had to sit on the floor to make my tea as its not great for me to keep bending down) and they're a bit stingy on sugar and milk for the tea (but you can go and ask for more in reception hence the half) and the beds are the most uncomfortable beds I've personally slept in. I have problems with my back and neck, every day here I woke up with a backache which is a different type of pain to what I have daily, but taking my painkillers and that type of pain went away until the next morning.. That said I'm sure the bed would be comfortable enough for normal people. It was nice to sit on on an evening to relax but I don't think my back liked sleeping on it for 6-8 hours. Oooh the shower was lovely, great temperature choices and perfect pressure, really enjoyed my morning showers. Lay out of the toilet roll to toilet was a bit odd (under the sink, but kept having to move the hand towel). I would stay here again, I just hope that maybe different rooms might have different mattresses?

An Ibis never is a luxurious hotel, but always a good option if you only need a bed and a shower. This one is at a very central location close to public transport, pubs and restaurants. Within walking distance of the old town and Princess Street. I have been here for three nights during a five night stay. The hotel has very friendly and welcoming staff at reception always acknowledging when you pass them coming or going. The same level of good service in the bar and restaurant. Because of my loyalty status I was upgraded to a room on the highest floor (912) and got welcome gifts like Prosecco, soft drinks, chocolates and crisps. And of course a welcome drink in the bar. The size of the room is the same as I am used to in other Ibis hotels, although a Nespresso machine is a nice extra. The air-conditioning and heather unit doesn’t work or is switched off, but there is heather unit in the room. Although it is February and temperatures at night are still close to freezing, I didn’t need it, because the thick walls provide enough insulation. That insulation also keeps out every outside noise, although some sound can sometimes be heard inside by inconsiderate guests slamming doors coming or going. I skip the cleaning on most days by putting the no cleaning needed sign on my door, but the room is clean enough. Overall there is good value for money (£90 a night) in Edinburgh.

Stayed here for 4 nights and I don't have any qualms about it. Location is fantastic and central to everything. My room was not facing Royal Mile so thankfully, I did not hear the overnight noise from the bars. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. When I entered my room for the first time, I saw that they had placed shortbread from Shortbread House of Edinburgh on my pillow. It was quite tasty. My reservation came with breakfast and it was plentiful. They had eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, beans, bread (mainly toast and baguettes), cereal, jams, fruit, cold cuts and cheeses, juices, and 2 coffee machines. There is plenty of seating in the dining hall but if you come around 9ish, it is pretty packed. The dining staff is very sweet and accommodating. The only thing I wish I had during my stay was a mini-fridge. That would have been extremely useful but I'm not bitter about it. The beds are comfy and the rooms have air conditioning. The windows do not open unfortunately and I think that's for safety reasons. The rooms come with a water kettle and some tea packets and instant coffee. The bathrooms are fully stocked with body soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and a blow dryer. All-in-all, I enjoyed my stay. It's not going to be a 4 or 5 star hotel so if that's what you're looking for, you will need to look elsewhere.

Perfect. It is located in the centre, took us just a little of time to reach every where. Also, there's a number of shops and restaurant nearby, it's so convenient. Our room is neat and clean and included facilities (my friends' room has a better view but okay!!). On top of that, the staff were sooo nice and helpful, especially the ladies at the counter. Definitely recommend and would totally come back!

Everything in the room works, has basic amenities, rooms can be old but our stay was really great. Breakfast is also yum and fresh. Location is convenient to everything. Service superb!
