UPDATE 31/08/2021
Since this review was written Covid restrictions in the UK have changed. Masks are no longer required. As such the covid safety measure may or may not have changed on site at the Dorset Mud Trail.
That said, please use common sense and wear a mask if you can. If you don't want children etc. you would likely wear a condom. Therefore, if you want to reduce chance of catching Covid use common sense and perhaps wear a mask if you can.
Very good experience had when visiting the Dorset mud trail. Everything was as expected. Catering van (trailer) on site serving great bacon rolls etc. only criticism was that for £2 I would expect a larger size hot drink. very small tea. Other than that good selection of food and drink.
The mud trail was fun. Not every part of the trail (assault course) has to be completed, so no worries if you cant complete a section or don't wish to. Spectators welcome.
Covid Review:
Hand gel onsite and mask required when going up to the reception desk so bring one with you. can be a lot of people using lockers which are housed in a small outbuilding so hard to socially distance. I just waited until opportune moment where locker building was empty before I entered.
As usual remember hands, face, space. We are still in a pandemic so respect others and socially distance and stick to your groups etc.
Mask required on site (not required for activity) particularly when going up to reception. please...
Read moreA brilliantly fun experience! We booked more than 7 days in advance for the reduced rate and our party included a 60 year old, two mid-thirties (my wife and I) and two boys aged 12 & 7. We all absolutely loved the whole experience.
Your hour is split in to a 30 minute session at each of their two courses. This time flies by as you run across obstacles, dive/slide/fall in to the water, and generally mess around like big kids!
The lifeguards explain all the course safety first and there are plenty on hand to help (or push you in if you're showing off too much!). They say wetsuits are optional but we recommend them so the water doesn't get too cold. You all wear lifejackets so if you tire, just float for a bit :)
The flip bag (allows you to catapult someone into the air before falling in the water) was very popular with everyone but the queue for it drops quickly so the wait isn't too bad.
Changing facilities are basic but clean and more than suitable for what you need. NOTE: The eco showers feed back in to the lakes so no shampoo or soap allowed.
We were a little nervous that our 7 year old would be a little scared or tire - especially as it's for 6+. After the initial nerves from going in cold water he adored it though. He is a competent swimmer however who has weekly swimming lessons (involving multiple lengths of a pool). If your child is not at least a green hat (ASA standard) then they may find it too...
Read moreAmazing place for kids and adults alike. Plenty of parking, easy to find, but SatNav may take you further up the road, as it did us. Once in staff are friendly and helpful, and found our booking easily. We fed the pigs, and enjoyed the birds whilst waiting for the briefing of what was to come. Wetsuits and buoyancy aids on, having changed in good facilities, the kids were split into two groups, one to each lake. The assault courses were wonderful, and even though it rained it didn't matter, and an hour was sufficient as everyone was tired and cold by the end. Thirty minutes for each of the lakes. Lifeguards were very professional, Matt in particular was brilliant with my boys, and it was organised with military precision. No diving allowed, but plenty of jumping, bouncing, bombing and pushing in was. There were outdoor showers, and whilst they were being used we took advantage of the reduced next visit price tickets and booked the kids (and their Dad!) for two weeks time. We ordered hot chocolates to warm up, from the outdoor café shack, and sat undercover on picnic tables to celebrate my eleven year old's birthday. A brilliant experience and we're looking forward to our next visit. Go, you'll love it!
Update: came again 2 weeks later and found it to be just as good! Better still, it was cheaper as we booked again on the day to come back within a fortnight....
