Corfe Castle Model Village CAFE OPEN ONLY — Restaurant in England

Oh where to start... Oh, $18. Way too much for what I got.

It was jammed. No tables outside. Waited 20 minutes to get to the front of the line to order my food, I was crunched into a corner table literally next to the toilet. My only entertainment was listening to their conversations and watching them wiggle around. I suppose that is something.

They used skim milk for my latte which made it taste like watery crud. They forgot my food and after 15 minutes I had to get up and get someone's attention in the back to ask about it. No one stop by my table to see how I was doing and when I tried to get someone's attention, the ignored me. When I finally got my food, it wasn't heated all the way through. Cold quiche. Ick. The coleslaw was clearly store bought and the handful of salad greens were straight out of a cellophane bag.

They also sell a cream tea scone. I saw several people with them and they were bad. Didn't even look like a scone. How cheesy cheap can you get with the mini skule amount of jam and clotted cream which I'm not sure was clotted cream. It looked just like whipped cream. I don't know. Is that the Dorset version of cream tea?

I know this review isn't going to hurt them because they are overwhelmed with customers, but if you have a choice and you see this review, do yourself a favour and go...

Model village is ok. I've been some amazing ones and this is very much at the bottom of the pile. Made by local people with a passion. Not sure it's maintained with the same passion! We were excited to see it as often these places are gems but sadly this one is not. It was disappointing that so many of the information plaques hadn't been proof-read and had serious spelling mistakes. If you are going to bother making them, at least read your work first! The teepees in the back of the garden are a lovely place to play. Cute bug hotel. The sign next to might need adjusting through as bumble bees would never afford the tariff! As we were leaving, there was a gust of wind. One of the garden parasols blew out of it's stand and missed out 3 year old by inches! We were really shaken! It was a really heavy parasol. The staff can't out but didn't...

Great little model Village, the replica of the Civil War-era castle is certainly the highlight. There is a small little path through some trees with seating next to the stream and wicker 'tents'. There's also a few garden games for kids, a fairy garden, and some very well maintained flower beds with seating for the cafe. It's clear it's taken someone some considerable time to create - all the space is very well maintained and peaceful.

Lots of folk complaining of the £4.50 entrance fee for adults, kids 3 and under are free. But, it's only £4.50.....less than you'd pay for a pint at the pub which most people wouldn't even question, and this goes to maintaining the place.
