Not bad I came in here a year ago. All was great. In a year it’s changed. Very disappointed with the menu. Starters are quirky and all a bit odd. Went for something different which was the little almond cake balls for starters. I mean how much cash for the smallest little balls, 3! 3 of them. 10p size!! Surrounded by green leaves. The balls were just ok. But 3 is extremely poor for the high price! Others starters of humus and 4 tiny pieces of bread to dip in. Again pricy!! Other 2 diners said theirs ok. Mains….. if you like pizza or burgers then you’re fine. Main meals otherwise are again very odd. Fish and chips a classic. The rest I struggled with. So went with the half roast chicken, chips and salad. My mother had the same, no chips, can she get veg. Nope you can have more salad! So far too much salad on my plate! Let alone she got it twice! So much cash for a load of salad!! Maybe do veg or salad. The chicken was good. Couldn’t cut it though!! Bunged on top of the chips. So really hard to cut with a knife and fork! So not impressed with that. Don’t do it! Why put it on top?! Maybe offer some pub classics along side burgers and pizza! Pies, shepherds pie, lasagna. So shame I had to have chicken as not a lot else to have. Other diners enjoyed their burgers. Dessert??? Rock hard churros! I mean how can you ruin them?? Small and hard, boiling hot so just been quickly put in fryer, already cooked hours ago! So these were so hard and dry. Luckily the chocolate sauce helped to get the hard churros down. The place looks dirty. Needs a clean. There was 5 of us. The menus are sticky! Filthy, when you are going to eat knowing the menus have been handled by ppl. Give them a clean! The area where the table number was. Filthy. Won’t be back. No way worth the cash. Not good enough...
Read moreMy husband and I have lived in Corfe Castle for over 20 years and always support local businesses as much as we can. So, when our son and daughter-in-law came to visit us we invited them to the most photographed pub in the village. Booked a Sunday lunch table for 4 plus a 2 months old baby a week in advance for today, specified that we need a space for a pram near our table, which was not provided. The changing room is in the smallest restroom, but I suppose the management cannot help with that space. However, I know that there were spacious areas around that could have some space for a buggy. The men oredered beef and lamb roast which was okay, nothing special. My daughter-in-law and I had chicken roast that was very dry, overcooked, almost inedible, the gravy that came with it was extremely thin and watery, vegetables were all right. We think that price wise we were overcharged. Paying over £20 for a dish that was mostly left untouched on the plate is a bit disappointing. Service was quick, we were offered tap water in a jar, but not once asked ifnour food was all right, in the end the girl who served us told me that the service is included but could be taken off. Not to embarrass myself further I paid the full price plus service charge that came up as nearly extra £20 on top, which would be fine if you are happy with your meal. To sum it all up, what was supposed to be a pleasant family lunching experience, ended up with a bitter taste for me. Hopefully, the staff, the kitchen and the management will take into account my honest feedback and make improve matters for other diners in the future. Overall, a very disappointing experience for me and my family. We all had expected a much better experience. A local Corfe...
Read moreOur recent visit to The Greyhound at Corfe Castle, though brief and only for drinks, left a truly excellent impression. Nestled in the picturesque setting of Corfe Castle, this pub perfectly blends traditional charm with a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to unwind.
We stopped in for a couple of refreshing pints and a couple of halfs of Madri, and the quality of the drinks was superb – perfectly poured and chilled. What truly stood out, however, was the fantastic atmosphere. The pub buzzed with a lively yet comfortable energy, a delightful mix of locals and visitors, all enjoying the relaxed ambiance. It felt like a quintessential country pub, warm and inviting.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. Their genuine smiles and efficient service added significantly to our positive experience. Beyond the warm welcome, it was evident that the entire establishment is exceptionally well-kept. Everything, from the bar area to the seating, was clean and tidy, reflecting a clear pride in their pub.
The state of the facilities, including the toilets. They were not only remarkably large but also meticulously maintained and spotless. This attention to detail, even in the smallest aspects, speaks volumes about the overall standards at The Greyhound.
Even for just a quick drink, The Greyhound at Corfe Castle proved to be a delightful find. Its great atmosphere, friendly staff, well-kept premises, and excellent facilities make it a standout.
