Disgracefully cold! People chittering all round us! No heating on at all during a cold snap late November! Just to top it where we were sat we had a cold draft blowing on us the whole show too..Sat with a puffa jacket & freezing ankles the whole show. 2nd time in decades, and hundreds of theatre shows all over the world that we had to keep our coats on & buttoned up!...People next to us had gloves on. Infact almost everyone had their big coats on..A couple behind us left due to coldness..And why when a show starts at 19:30 that the front doors are still not open at 7pm leaving folk freezing again in a massive que outside I will never know.. Unbelievably, this same thing happened to us last year at the alhambra, so this is obviously something the place has form on in the winter months. Getting in late meant you couldn't even get a coffee to heat pre-show! Won't be back! Took a way from what was a good show. Could see that even the act was cold.. On a plus, it...
Read moreA Great show by TideLines tonight, an excellent performance. Pity the poor folks in the section set aside for people with mobility issues coudn't see because of people standing in front of them. C'mon Alhambra person responsible, have a word with yourself. Why put someone who obviously can't stand or may have difficulty doing so be located directly behind the standing section. I, and a few others nearby, commented on this and felt really sorry and stood aside as best we could. But the space vacated only filled up with others. Plus, one of the staff asked me to move down a bit so the view was unobstructed. Well the thought was good but that wasn't going to work. So my apologies from a "standing" patron to all I may have affected. I hope they complain accordingly. I look forward to any comments from Alhambra on this subject, preferably with what your solution you propose. Apart from that - a good show. 5 stars for the Show but only one for the...
Read moreCame here to see Madam Butterfly performed by one of the Russian state companies. Well, they played to a great crowd, Fife is clearly a most cultured place. The house was packed, and it was lovely to see a traditional version performed much like it would have been in at the turn of the century - Although I do wonder when Madam B makes her appearance if the Brits just see Gilbert and Sullivan and Katicia the Daughter in law elect in Tittypoo!!!
But it was worth the trip over here, this really is a gem of a theatre and I am quite jealous of Dunfermliners having this as their local. Beautifully restored, wonderfully comfortable, prices for such quality and views quite incredible! Oh and friendly staff and theeee most sassy bar gals in the Kingdom, hammered out every G&T or prosecco in a flash with a large dose of their caustic wit. I cannot wait to...
