One of the volunteers spent ten minutes giving an historical overview to just my wife and I which really brought the displays alive. We learned about some of the famous local characters including Ann (Nancy) Perriam (1769-1865) known as a "powder monkey", Viscountess Frances Herbert Nelson (1762 - 1831), Baroness Anna Isabella Byron (1792 - 1860) and Mary Anne Clarke (1776 - 1852). Well worth visiting!

Very small entrance fee, £2.50 per person but very well worth it. I even suggested that they charge more. However, I was shocked to hear that some people walk out when they are informed of the entrance fee! Some of the items on display brought back lots of memories from my childhood. It is very nostalgic and...
