We’ve just returned from a three night stay at this hotel. Previously we’ve travelled as a couple and stayed in the Premier Plus rooms which we have found to be excellent. This time we were travelling with our granddaughter so booked a family room and there was a huge difference. Unfortunately, our room, 309, did not look anything like the photos of family rooms on the Premier Inn website. It was uncomfortably small with nowhere near enough storage or surface and hanging space. The WiFi was poor and the room looked tired and dated. I feel certain that a single bed had been added into what was clearly only a double room so it could be sold as a family room over the school holidays. ||On the plus side, the bathroom looked fairly new. No bath, just a rainfall shower which can be a bit awkward for a small child to use. I think a hand held attachment would have been very useful especially in a room allegedly kitted out for young children.||Breakfast at the hotel is very good. It’s buffet style and there are lots of hot and cold options to choose from …. if they’re all available. Unfortunately, there seemed to be one person handling everything which lead to gaps in the buffet, dirty tables and families waiting to be seated. I don’t think it’s acceptable at any time, let alone during school holidays, to have just one person checking in, seating guests, replenishing the buffet and clearing tables, yet this is what seemingly happens as standard here. That said, I would like to give a special shout out to team members Tracy and Sophie who went above and beyond to maintain standards in this woefully understaffed environment. | |I don’t want to be horribly negative though. I can certainly see why this hotel is so popular. It’s in a perfect position opposite the beach, it’s very close to the town centre and it has a decent sized car park costing £8 per night. It could be a real gem with a few more staff and...
Read moreLast time we stayed here we gave it a 5 star review, we've given it a 3 star this time and that's mainly due to a particular staff member. |Upon arrival we were given our room early which was a blessing after travelling with my husband who really needed to rest, as he's on stroke recovery, the receptionist was lovely.|The room was lovely, it was clean, the only gripe was the coffee machine still had water and old coffee pods in so that obviously hadn't been cleaned. We had water in the fridge and tea bags and milk which was perfect, we got a beautiful sea view, it's hard to beat the views from this premier inn. We also had a bath which again was ideal for my husband.|Having said all the positives I was so annoyed with one of the staff, 1st of all I had to pop to reception to book the evening meal I waited while she chatted about money to the younger staff members she was aware I was there which is just bad customer service. It didn't bother me that much and I'd have forgotten about it had she not been the same later. We went down for the evening meal, we waited to be seated, she knew we were there it wasn't busy in the restaurant, we waited 10 minutes and then a younger girl came to us, she was just asking if we had allergies and before I could speak the other lady came over interrupting the conversation without looking at me and started telling the girl which jobs she wanted doing, she wanted such and such serving on the bar and someone else serving food. She was extremely rude, the staff member who was talking to me was very embarrassed. I've worked in customer service and I would never ever interrupt someone talking to a customer let alone think giving out jobs takes priority over a customer. |Lisa T really needs to go on a retraining course in customer service.|Next morning with different staff on at breakfast the whole atmosphere was different,...
Read moreThe room was fine, it’s the service and hidden extra charges that ensures I will not stay with this chain again. At first it said our payment didn’t go through so we used another card since we are not from the UK. They charged my second card and it went through. Ten minutes later, I got a notice from my first card that the first payment had gone through. She would not reimburse it. She told us it happens all the time and to complain to our credit card despite it not being our card company’s fault. We never got reimbursed.
They then charged us for parking which it didn’t say earlier. Then they said they have internet in every hotel in every room. Their internet is so slow I could not pull up a picture in one hour’s time. You can upgrade to better internet service for 7.00 pounds. So they make the basic service so horrible that they make another 7 pounds. My dial up 25 years ago was faster than their basic internet.
Their tub and showers are nearly 2 1/2 feet off the ground. I do not know how the elderly or handicapped could get into the shower. The bed was comfortable but the pillow was only 2 to 3 inches thick so it was like having no pillow at all. We have stayed in many hotels, hostels, and bed and breakfasts, but this one had the worst internet and service.
We had to check ourselves in on a kiosk which would be fine if it worked. It couldn’t print our room key off. We pushed the help button for over 15 minutes before an impatient lady came out. She was annoyed we pushed the button so many times. We would not have pushed it so many times had she answered it the first 5 minutes. I won’t stay again despite the beds being comfortable and...
