We had a fabulous trip to tutbury castle for the firework display. We were pleasantly surprised by the car parking (we'd been previously and knew that the road up to the car park was one way, narrow and the car parking wasn't massive) yet we got on smoothly and got off within 10 minutes which is unknown for a lot of events.

The castle was well lit, lots of food trucks (Korean food, sandwiches, crisps, burgers, hot dogs (this truck had a ridculously long line the whole time so maybe next time they should consider multiple trucks, drinks), plus a marquee with drinks, seating and live music.

The fire eaters and performers were fabulous kept us entertained for ages. Plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and get a relatively good view.

The viking were also brilliant set up a large encampment to set the scene, fighting performances and really got the crowds going and entertained the kids with their jokes and audience participation. Then it really set the atmosphere with the viking funeral to begin the fireworks.

The fireworks were truly spectacular we had a really good view from where we were standing but I don't think it would have been a bad view from anywhere. I believe they were going for around 20-30 minutes but it was so great I didn't bother looking at a watch.

There were toilets at the entrance and then portaloos on the top carpark and I believe there were more in the castle but we didn't get over to that area.

The event was well managed, staff friendly and all in all a fabulous night. We will certainly...

Tutbury isn't just a destination for me, it’s where my ancestral roots are. I visited in February 2024, returning to the village where my family came from. Walking through the winding streets and castle grounds felt like reconnecting with generations of history, both personal and ancient.

My trip included visiting the graves of my ancestors, nestled between the historic St Mary's Anglican church, featuring a stunning thousand year old Norman arch, overlooking the graves of my great grandparents.

Then there is Norman castle built on the site of an earlier Mercian fort and later destroyed by Cromwell’s forces. The weight of history here is powerful, but so is the beauty and peace.

Tutbury Castle has always held a special place in my heart, not just because of its royal ties and the legends of Mary Queen of Scots, but because it’s where my parents were married. The castle’s spirit lingers in our family story.

There is even an old song telling the tale Robin Hood's wedding feast said to have taken place in the castle itself. It’s these legends and layers of history that make Tutbury feel almost magical.

The village is full of charm, with antique shops, cozy cafés, and friendly locals who make you feel instantly at home. For me, Tutbury isn’t just a visit, it’s a returm home to...

lets start by looking at the Tutbury Castle website actual info for the event , truthful comments by the side Activities & Events include: Flambé Circus Theatre fire performers, "a girl rubbing fire up and down her arm, kids got bored" Eddy the Executioner " a guy in fancy dress on entrance, didn't see him again " Chamber of Horrors (Over 16′s only) "can't comment kids too young" Mask Making and Crafts "ok but kids making masks ?? " Halloween Zoo " a frog, a snake and a skink ?? Meet Cath Howe from ‘Most Haunted’ boring talk not for kids Storytime, "couldnt find it and guides didnt know " Fairground Rides and Stalls " £2.50 each for kids , ripoff " Fun and Games " not that we could see " Plus much more! " must have been at another castle

all in all for £6 each adult booked online a very very poor show which could have been so much more , ie more staff in fancy dress, witches around cauldrons, hog roast, apple bobbing, scary clowns , to think of just a few, if you think this show was anywhere near the shows in the USA as on your website i think you have fallen...

The medieval Tutbury castle is just around 25 miles away from Stoke on Trent along the A50, it's a nice old castle with plenty of charm and character and very popular for use of wedding venues, with the castle used for a great backdrop to those all important wedding photos to stick in the album. Here you've got not only the castle itself, but some lovely views of the picturesque river dove and Derbyshire countryside, plus the nearby village which is a nice place for a stroll and to get a cuppa from the local tea room. A couple of facts for you, the castle lies on the original old Norman settlement and built in 1071, but was destroyed in 1174 during a rebellion against king Henry 11 - it must have been something else back in the day of the Norman Baron Henry de Ferrers (It's first owner) who had another 199 manors to his name.
