Well what an experience that was and not a good one. As a party of four adults we had booked a table for an evening meal (09/01/2015) The lady behind the bar was asked by one of our party is they sold Magners cider they didn't and she pointed out to him what ciders they sold as I was looking at the beers they sold as was not fully listening I then asked if they sold Strogbow only to be met with a rude attidude and a reply of "I've just told you" After I apologised and feeling like I had been told off I asked if I could sample the draught cider I was presented with the smallest amount of froth possible and had to stand there willing it to turn to a more liquid state so I could taste it. This wasn't a busy night and we were shown a square table for four, ok it had four chairs and would be suitable for two adults and two children but not four mature adults. We asked if we could use the longer table next to it and where told that it was reserved, although no reserve sign, cutlery or anything in fact was on the table. She then said that we could but in reality they where both the same size, (maybe they are in square meterage but without a tape measure I can't be sure). The lady showing us to the table was chuntering under her breath while moving all of our knifes and forks, if I had realised the hardship this had caused I would have picked up my own two knifes and two forks and moved them myself.
I understand in establishments like this that the price of a starter is around the five pound mark which isn't a problem but when I order a prawn cocktail am I wrong to expect a bit more than a small slice of bread, one small lettuce leaf and four prawns in a small cup? If i'm expecting too much I apologise. As for the rest of the meal it was exceptable, neither good nor bad it was avarage. The young ladies who wait on the tables always had a smile on their faces and were polite.
Will I be going back to the Dog and Partridge, Tutbury, Staffordshire....not until the majority of staff have been on a customer service course or...
Read moreReally poor, was really looking forward to a meal here to celebrate a birthday. Had 2 babies with us that required highchairs we asked for high chairs 4-5 times and was told theyâll bring them over. After 20 minutes of waiting we asked again to be told they were looking for some, 15 minutes after that someone came to take our drinks orders so we asked again to be told sorry no more high chairs and that there was others in front of us waiting for high chairs. So what were we meant to do with a 7 and 9 month old baby?? My relative had to drive to their house to pick up a highchair for their baby while I was left with the only option to feed baby on my knee, (should of left there and then to be honest but was celebrating a birthday so we wanted to celebrate together and have a nice time) luckily we managed to find a high chair ourselves after 45 minutes of waiting. We had to clean the high chair ourselves which in all honesty isnât a major issue by itself but add on top of that a long wait and really poor service by the staff made he whole experience so disappointing that we all agreed we would not return. The food was pricey for what we got, when we first ordered about 4 things were not available which was told to us by way of âcanât-weâve not got thatâ no sorry or recommendation on anything else, when we finally managed to order and waited a long time, roughly an hour, hungry and bored children our food came only to find items missing from the meals that were advertised menu. In fairness the manager did offer us a complimentary meal for 2âŠ. There was 7 of us dining so not really much of an offer to entice us to try it again. Staff morale seemed poor and didnât seem to be enough staff on shift. I really wanted to enjoy it but it was...
Read moreTo begin with there was a lot of things missing from the menu but we were given fair warning so Iâm ok with that. My wife and myself ordered the sharing board as we both wanted squid but also wanted to try some other things. The sharing board arrived missing the squid - no one told us it would be missing until we brought it up with the waitress at which point, we were told "sorry we have run out but we can give you something to replace it". The staff were fully aware the squid was missing but hoped we wouldnât notice. We opted for extra lamb koftas to replace the missing squid - the lamb koftas arrived pretty fast but cold and bloody so we couldnât eat them. For mains I ordered the trio of roasts but we had previously been told that they had run out of beef so I could either have extra pork or extra turkey - I opted for extra turkey. The mains arrived, my trio of roasts only had pork - no turkey, the rest of the meal had been microwaved and the gravy was thin and sparse â the meal was so poor I sent it back as I had lost faith in the kitchen staff, I went hungry opting to eat at home. My wife had the sea bass and scallops, she ate less than half but being polite she didnât want to complain, the sea bass itself was not terrible (not good but not terrible) but the scallops were over cooked and rubbery - the risotto microwaved and bland. All in all, a really poor meal - on the plus side the chefs managed to successfully cook chicken nuggets and chips for my children.
How on earth you can warrant the prices on the menu for such low-quality food is beyond me. Iâve had better microwave meals in Weatherspoonâs and Weatherspoonâs would cost me at least 50% less?
Futher to this the taps in the gents toilets didnt work meaning we couldn't...
