My now 5th visit and it gets ever better. A Ladies road cycling team were present, all enjoyed a healthy work out and a day out. Great food and ambiance. The atmosphere is always so good. Every minute more mixed people arrive. It's so popular.
It has its own WiFi free, work on your lap tops, browse and eat. Wonderful attentive and pleasant staff. Great menus and drinks for all tastes. I saw 2 wonderful looking home made Burgers taken to 2 children aged c7 with mum. 2 little faces lit up. Santa has arrived. Magic! It would feed them for a week. Kids high chairs etc. Whole families flooded in,. Twosomes, all tastes catered and welcome. Weddings, Clubs and meetings catered for. With varied live singers for the week -end, it's the place to go.
I had Rack of Lamb, enough to feed a family. As ever so well presented. As many wines, spirits or beers as you require. Smaller Wine bottles also to avoid the Drink Drive limit trap. Have a great day and keep your license. I hear, at the weekends with Singers, it's rocking. In the day they are flat out. It's getting ever more popular. A huge asset to the village. At the entrance to the Courtyard is a very pleasant, tasteful and well stocked Ladies dress and bags' jewellry shop. Try them. Fresh designs. In the Courtyard is also a Health and Beauty Care business, then eat and be pampered. A great way to spend a relaxing day taking care of you.
Businessmen, local or passing through, stop and lunch there. Good sized tables to contain 12. The village has Jewellery , Antique Stores and more. Tutbury Castle is open to Tourists on the doorstep, and the vast Sudbury Estate overflowing with Tourists daily is only a few miles away. Visit Sudbury and eat at Tutbury or vice versa. A great way to spend a family day. Tourism at its best. It will fill any families entire day. I am ever humbled to see so good a Bistro Gastro business thriving. Extensive menus, i choose new menus each visit. So many ideas, they cater for everyone all home sourced. Tutbury is a well presented quality village. What's not to like, get out your wallets and on your bike? Folks its fabulous, combine it also with Sudbury tours. It will make your day. Ladies, lunch there. So many do. Guys, what's keeping...
Read moreIf you ever come to Tutbury - and unless you already live there, chances of that happening are very slim indeed - and you're craving a solid lunch menu, you can certainly do worse than The Courtyard, a smallish but nice and comfy restaurant on the main street of that tiny little hovel. I dropped by en route back from Sudbury Hall & The Museum of Childhood (a bus stop of the 401 line is very close by) for a late lunch. Maybe my choice, the traditional F&C, wasn't the best one. There are both British and international items on the menu, plus a healthy pizza selection. The F&C were decent enough, but very much "solid pub quality". Unfortunately, I had just had the best F&C of my life at The Devonshire in Belper two days earlier - and by comparison, the one at The Courtyard paled both in concept and execution. Some of the dishes I saw on other people's tables (It was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon) certainly looked better. Also, if you want a good beer with your food, maybe a regular pub - there are several along the street - might be the better choice (or, split food & drinks). The Courtyard offers a selection of fizzy lagers, one British on-tap pale ale (not a very good one, 61 Deep by Marston's). I see many reviews by local people who seem to enjoy the food a lot, but compared to stuff available in Derby, it just seems very average to me. Nice place per se though, staff were...
Read moreI came here as part of a big group who had ordered all the food beforehand. Despite that, we waited over 40mins before food started coming. Some of us, including myself, ordered a mushroom risotto - this was the most bland thing I have ever eaten. There was no seasoning whatsoever, and the rice was so overcooked you couldn't even identify the grains. It was absolutely awful, they should consider taking it from the menu. Without complaining, because I didn't want to make a fuss, I asked the waitress how long I'd have to wait if I ordered a pizza, she said 25-30min. However, the others who also ordered the risotto decided to complain and then the waitress had a different answer in regards to the time the food would take - in this case, it would be much faster. I guess they keep some food prepared for the customers who complain? Overall, not a very good experience. The pizza I had to replace the risotto was ok-ish but didn't have the chorizo that the menu described. Apart from that, the place has a lovely atmosphere, especially if you sit outside. Also, the other people who did not order the risotto seemed to be happy...
