The Ross Tiger Vessel Experience: One of the highlights of the visit was boarding the Ross Tiger vessel. Stepping onto this historic trawler provides a tangible connection to the past, allowing visitors to explore the living and working conditions of the fishermen who once sailed the seas on these vessels. The immersive experience aboard the Ross Tiger beautifully complements the center's comprehensive displays, offering a hands-on and memorable experience.

Well worth the 45 minute drive. Apart from the closed road, easy to get to, cheap as chips parking. It started at the cafe, served by the bubbly Deborah, then tickets from Bob, who is well worth interrogating his experiences as a skipper on the Tiger Ross (more of that in a bit). The museum itself was an exciting, interactive mock-up of a 50s Grimsby, walk through the streets, listening to locals piped around your route, then onto a trawler - the radio room, bridge, out into a freezing deck, back inside, through the boiler room and into the cabins. Then out into the street, complete with shops and, my favourite bit, the pub! There was even a very life-like installation of a mother receiving bad news - you will come away feeling very sobered by this extreme career. The bonus to all of this is the tour of the Tiger Ross. Accompanied by the charismatic and history-geek, Connor, he will take you around this now decommissioned, 1950s trawler to give you a proper feel of life at sea. His knowledge, patter, humour and enthusiasm was very infectious. My favourite part was the radio room but other highlights were the HUGE engine and the luxury toilet! All in all, it made me warm to Grimsby as it's not a place I've ever considered going to. Hopefully this serves as a recommendation to anyone floating...

A truly fascinating experience. The museum is extremely well put together, offering both education and fun for all ages. Each room is laid out pertaining to the many stages of fishing, from the frozen deck of a trawler covered in ice, audio recordings of past crew, to the back streets of Grimsby circa 1950s. Whoever put this together deserves some recognition because it is top class. But that's only half of it. A guided tour by enthusiastic and knowledgeable Conor brought the Ross Tiger trawler to life. Do not miss this, it is absolutely fascinating. To top it all off, it turns out Bob, who greeted us at the museum, was once skipper of Ross Tiger, so after our visit to the trawler we returned to the museum and bombarded Bob with questions about life on board a trawler in the frozen waters of Iceland! The whole afternoon really stands out as a cultural experience and should not to be missed. Even if you do nothing else in...

14/03/2020 Me my partner and 2 kids went and wasn't expecting anything to exciting. How wrong we could have been. We were very pleasantly surprised at how much the family ticket cost, just £12 which was for 2 adults and up to 5 kids. We went on the tour of the trawler that is on the estuary next to the museum before going around the museum. This was about an hour in length and we were guided around by a very knowledgeable chap who use to work on it in the 70's and they wasn't anything that he didn't know. I highly recommend the tour of the trawler before going around the museum as it helps explain the exhibits a bit better. The museum itself was well presented and insightful with some really well thought out exhibits that were great to look at. I highly recommend a visit to this place.
