Lovely place, had a fab exhibit of photographs on when I visited. I went with my children for a event that Simon Bartram read his book The man on the moon and he then the children all drew aliens. It was a fantastic event and we'll worth going if it's on again and best of all it was free to book. Only thing I didn't like was that we couldn't take drinks from the cafe the the tables in the middle where event was held, they said it was because of insurance purposes.

This free art gallery is centrally located in Hartlepool and is not only great for city visitors but is also well suited to regular visits by locals. The building itself has an interesting history. The exhibits change regularly and can feature excellent works, usually only accessible elsewhere, such as London. There are facilities to amuse young children, which parents will appreciate. There is also a pleasant cafe.

A little gem situated in the former Christ Church in Church Street in the centre of Hartlepool the art gallery is well worth a visit . Regular art displays in all forms of the medium , a small shop selling lots of gift ideas , the Vestry Cafe , toilets and free entry - what's not to like !

Didn't even know this church was an art gallery, nothing fancy but for a small fee you can go to the top of the tower and see the town from a different perspective. I've lived in Hartlepool all my life and I've never seen this view with my own eyes. It's worth doing if you've not done it before, but unless you're super fit, don't take the stone steps, it nearly killed me.

There's a little café in there that serves food and hot and cold drinks for really fair prices, the staff are friendly and it's a nice little atmosphere.

It's free to enter the church/gallery/cafe, so it's worth a visit if you're nearby and if you've never been to the top of the tower I recommend it...

When you first walk in I have to admit my thoughts were; is this it? But when I actually start looking round that view changed quickly. The use of the space in the art gallery cum church is excellent. The way the exhibition has been curated and displayed second to none. I don't know how much of this is down to Jonny Hannah, but the current exhibition of shipbuilders and fisherfolk is innovative and of you take the time to read the accompanying texts simply brilliant. Well...
