A quiet secluded beach just off the Torquay to Teignmouth coast road, can be accessed off the main road via Steep Hill which goes directly downhill to the beach car park but you must come back uphil via Brim Hill, both routes are well signposted. There is a council car park with a car height restriction at the entrance and it is pay and display. Once parked up the path leads to a flight of stairs which go down to the beach so there is no access for wheelchairs. The cafe and public toilets are closed due to covid19 but you can still access the beach with a mini waterfall, beware of rockfall on beach which offers gorgeous views out to sea and the Dorset coast on the horizon.

A beautiful beach though there are no toilets no cafe as they are both Closed permanently by looks of things. The beach was busy and is accessed by steep path and steps a 10 min walk from a pay and display car park. I am sure the beach is technically closed but that did not stop loads of people attending in hot weather. I was walking from Torquay to Teignmouth via the South West Coastal path, which from this point at Maidencombe Beach becomes very challenging for sure.

Beautiful beach, but very small and a bit of a trek. When the tide is in there is very little space and most people were on the rocks, concreted area and at the cafe. Not a lot of shade, so would recommend bringing your own. The parking only takes coins. You can exchange at the cafe by the beach. You can also get cash back at the pub, but it doesn’t open until midday.

Oh dear. As part of a progressive exploration of the area I got to Maidencombe because it looks like it could be on the map. After you get past the parked cars outside the car park you discover the expensive parking reason why people park outside the car park. Then there is a tiny rather unimpressive beach, and rocks that wouldn't be good to go or play on. So, along the coast path walk ... the main virtue of which us that we got it to ourselves. The reason probably being that it is very dull, mostly tree lined so you mostly don't see the sea, which is at the bottom of a steep slope mostly. On balance, not one of the better options. (Oh, and lots of dogs...
