It's always better when the weather is with us, but it's a nice play for younger kids to visit. Cost me £11 with 1 child of 5. There are no particularly unusual animals for children to see in the segregated areas, though they do have wallaby and alpacas. You can buy little bags of food from the shop to feed some of them . It's well laid out, all on the flat for people or kids with mobility issues and with a little walk around the farm. There are also a few non animal related places for kids to play on, pitch & put golf, cars , sand pit, a little play park & an agility park etc. The soft play is only a small area and when the bigger kids went in , the little one was too nervous to go in, so there needs to be an age limit , or a separate are if poss for older ones and it needs a member of staff nearby to ensure rules are adhered to. One of the best features I thought was the education barn, explaining about the history of the farm, who owned it, how farming techniques had changed over the ages & how certain crops were grown etc. It was v.interesting , for an adult as well, though might struggle with attention span for littler ones . I'm from coulby and I didn't realise it went back that far. The cafe woz a little gem! .... the food was lovely and prices pretty reasonable. The quiche & salad was lush & Iittle one had a jacket potato & cheese which was just the right size and she ate it all!.... as usual I got pulled in the gift shop for a treat. The only downside was that the maze area was v.enclosed & muddy and little one felt claustrophobic in there so I think that could be made bigger and more of a feature and they had closed off the guinea pigs, tortoise area so she didn't get to see them. And of course theres always the feral kids that arent controlled by their parents instead of being taught respect for animals and nature. But all in all, it was decent, the sun came out which totally changed the place and we spent just over 3.5hrs there, so she slept...
Read moreToday, I went to this farm and I was disgusted. Most of the animals were in extremely bad conditions. The poor horses had barely any grass, the white one had a bleeding scrape on her nose and they were always fighting (one of them needs to be taken out). The sheep and goats were starving. I went over to see one and it was reaching out for the grass on the other side of the fence. Also, in the ‘discovery barn’, I saw about eight chickens in one tiny coop that wasn’t even big enough for one chicken! Furthermore, the chicks were being handled too much; therefore, the my were getting stressed out. Moreover, the cows were very dirty - if they are not cleaned soon, they will get infected. And, the staff, whom were with the rabbits, guinea pigs and chicks, were not handling them properly. The man with the chicks just grabbed their body and just let their feet dangle. The man with the rabbits grabbed their chest and right before their back legs. The cleaning facilities were unacceptable: only two out of six taps worked and both of the soap dispensers were broke. I will never be going back to this farm because of...
Read moreWhat a great way to spend the afternoon, pre booked tickets online coming in at around £27 for 4 adults and 3 children. Play area was great, not cramped and in different sections for the age groups, covered sand pit was a godsend as the weather was a scorcher, mini golf available for free as were the little peddle gokarts...fantastic, a lot of places would charge extra for this so I take my hat off to the owners for including these little touches in with the price. We purchased some bags of food and got to feed some of the animals that were able to reach us over the fencing. We got to see rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, one lone chick that had hatched earlier than its sibling eggs, pigs, goats, horses, lambs, lamas and the chickens and peacock were a massive hit with the kids. Little cafe on site to provide nice cold refreshments, We appreciated that certain changes and limitations have had to occur due to covid but this place is a little gem. Well worth the visit, well worth the money, a gem of a place and a very welcome and lovely afternoon...
