Walpole Park — Attraction in Gosport

18/08/24 We attended the Sunday evening of the Gosport waterfront festival which was well organised and a good line up of music. And a really decent price for a drink no ludicrous price hikes for a beer £6.00 a pint a bit more than the pub but not the £8 to 10 I have paid at other festivals this summer. The cafe here is very good. Wed-Sun. North lake is weedy but not too bad, nowhere near as bad as Canoe lake Southsea. It's a good facility 100m x50m and about 2 feet deep. If you are careful to avoid the weed, it's great for RC boating. For RC yachts, the south lake is better, but afternoons only as the club uses it every morning for competitions. Pleasant park in Gosport. A tidal lake with jellyfish good for crabbing and racing model boats. A play park for both toddler's and older kids; a zip line. An outdoor gym. Picnic tables, nice waterside walks and a basketball net (if I remember correctly). Car park and bus stops near by. Only issue. No toilet and a bit difficult to reach the park from the car park if a wheelchair user.
