Grassington National Park Visitor Centre, it ticks all the boxes! If you’re searching for the perfect starting point to explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales, look no further than the Grassington National Park Visitor Centre. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that this place is both welcoming and convenient, making it a top choice for visitors. The location is nothing short of idyllic. Nestled in the heart of the Dales, it’s only a mere two-minute stroll from the charming village centre of Grassington. This proximity means you can easily enjoy the quaint shops, cafes, and local culture before or after your adventures in the park. Parking is ample and, importantly, affordable. The full-day parking pass is reasonably priced, which is a big plus considering how many attractions and trails are easily accessible from the centre. It makes it easy to spend an entire day exploring without worrying about finding a spot or incurring hefty parking fees. The centre features a lovely park area, complete with benches and picnic tables—perfect for relaxing with family or friends. Whether you want to enjoy a packed lunch or simply take in the views, this outdoor space enhances the experience. The restrooms at the Visitor Centre are clean and well-maintained, and I particularly appreciate the voluntary contribution system in place. Unlike many other facilities that charge 50p, this approach feels much more gracious and considerate, making visits more enjoyable. The Centre offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, which are perfect for those Instagram-worthy shots. Plus, the chance to see local wildlife adds to the natural charm of the area—an unexpected delight that truly elevates the experience. Whether you’re an avid birdwatcher or just looking for a serene moment in nature, you won’t be disappointed.

A great place. Lovely little town around the Dale's and plenty of walking area. The waterfall is gorgeous. The visitors centre was super helpful .. First visit here and I was given a map of the area and a magazine with information of all events on within the year and what a lovely little shop /gift shop it is. Was not the best weather for my visit but none the less still beautiful and a great wander taking in the sights of just one little path of the Yorkshire Dales!

Large car park. Picnic area. Helpful, obliging staff in the information centre. Loo block. Car park charges: up to 2 hours £3. All day £5. 24 hours £6. 48 hours £7.50. Up to 1 week £15. Annual pass £50. Lots of footpaths in the vicinity, including the Dales Way. The falls, the old church and the stepping stones are worth seeing. Grassington itself is a busy, popular thriving hub with a variety of eateries and independent shops. Recommended.

Brilliant This is Upper Wharfdale's principle village. It is a place of quiet charm with a lovely old bridge spanning the River Wharfe and cobbled lanes with pretty stone cottages descending towards the attractive village square.

In the 18th and 19th century Grassington was a noted centre for lead mining and Grassington Moor, north of the village still bears the scars of this long vanished industry.

Grassington is an excellent base for exploring the Dales, there are shops as well as the National Park Dale Visitors Centre. It is a good area for walking as well as touring by motor car.

Tourist attractions include Grimworth Reservoir with its wildlife and lovely picnic spots, Kinsey Park and Trout Farm which as well as fly fishing lakes for enthusiasts, also has a children's fishing lake and playground. At nearby Hebden there are caverns and old lead workings, and the gardens of Parcevall Hall offer beautiful flowers, plants, trees, pools and streams. These dazzling gardens are set in 16 acres, there is a picnic area and tea-rooms, but the house, used as a retreat, is not available...

Grassington National Park are 2 faced and not at all a responsible body. They are supposed recently to have helped re-write the countryside code which among other things says to respect the countryside and farmers property. Stick to public rights of way and respect local residents and park responsibly etc. If only they would encourage these but if you ask local residents in Linto they will tell you that this is a mockery. The residents of the National Park pay over the odds to live here an't the National Park flaunts their wishes. Many leave home on weekends to get away from the unruly behaviour of visitors. We even have to have teams of volunteers to pick up the litter and even used barbecues. The farmers are constantly having to have walls repaired where they are pulled down to go to the toilet...
