Made a booking for 4 on mothers day, over email I even asked if just one of our party could have an afternoon tea. (The rest of us just wanted coffee/cake or a panini.) When we arrived they made it clear they were bringing out afternoon tea for 4. I was very aware I couldnt afford this so I asked if we could see a menu so the rest of us could order something else - it was only my mum who wanted an afternoon tea, the website had led me to believe i was just booking a table for 4, afternoon tea bookings were a different page altogether. After asking about this, the owner was extremely hostile and just brought out the other afternoon tea. The afternoon tea were not very nice at all, extremely plain shop bought bread sandwiches, cake was grim and the scone was ok. Shop bought macarons. Could barely eat as I felt so uncomfortable; at the end they charged ÂŁ90+ and after I paid I walked out crying my eyes out! That's the most money I've ever spent on food out and it felt like being robbed when I thought I was just going to buy one afternoon tea and some nice cake for the rest of us, was basically forced to have it and pay for it
Afternoon tea is a mothers day tradition for me and my mum, I usually take her into london to a fancy hotel and get an amazing afternoon tea for a fraction of the price. Really ruined my week, I never leave bad reviews but am stunned by...
Read moreExtremely overpriced! I would not recommend the afternoon tea to anyone. The quality of food was mediocre at best, and at ÂŁ23 (!!) per person, two platters of supermarket-quality sandwiches and small cakes came to ÂŁ90 for what could have been bought at Tescoâs for ÂŁ10. Youâd have to drink an awful lot of tea to make it worth your money. Do yourself a favour and go to the Ritz-Carlton, itâll cost you less even after travel and will be a certain improvement on the dead (lack of) ambience. Feel robbed, especially given that we only intended for one to have afternoon tea and ended up with two due to a âwebsite errorâ. They were hostile when we tried to explain, and didnât care at all when we explained again at the checkout. In every way...
Read moreNice little cafe that was dog friendly so we could bring our four legged friend in. He was given a treat and made to feel as welcome as the rest of our party. There was a nice selection of cakes, some of which were suitable for vegans, and other treats alongside sandwiches, paninis etc. I enjoyed my slab of victoria sponge cake and latte and the staff were friendly. We all left satisfied. Well worth a visit if you're in Grassington and if I'm in that neck of the woods again I will...
