I'm rather disappointed with this university and the poor quality service which I have received. Student administration is abysmal as well as any other services (such as timetabling or wellbeing). Sometimes I wonder what exactly it is that I'm paying for since on many occasions I've been told that the university doesn't offer extracurriculars, such as piano lessons (which is strange seeing as it's supposed to be an arts university) and offers only a rather minimal selection of foreign languages (and was told to try enrolling in Truro College if I was interested in other languages- which is slightly annoying to have to pay for another education facility to teach you something a university doesn't). They really don't support their student body, which is disappointing because it's the students after all that are what make a university look good. If you have a question or a problem they'll send you to three different departments just to be sent right back to where you first asked because they are too lazy to actually take their time to help. My personal tutor was the least helpful of them all and would not even bother showing up to tutorials I booked with him. On multiple occasions well being canceled appointments the day of and only a few hours before an appointment, and would contact you to reschedule just to do the same thing the next time and then not even make the effort to reschedule. These appointments were also not scheduled by yourself but schedule by the wellbeing team, so I would think that if the date set is so inconvenient for the wellbeing counsellor that they cancel multiple times, then maybe they shouldn't have scheduled anything on that date to begin with.
My recommendation, if you want to actually learn anything as well as not waste your time and money, then go to a technical school and...
Read moreI moved here from Malaysia and started my BSc in Business in 2018. Everything throughout my course was enjoyable. Lecturers are very nice and friendly. No complains. However, just a couple months before graduating, I had been working with the Director of the business school to gain the start up visa. We had been working through my business plan to be submitted to immigration. Everything had been finalised with the Director and he had agreed to sign off the sponsorship letter to me until just before Christmas and a month before my student visa expired, he decided to tell me he can't help and they were 'sorry'. At this point I was furious and disappointed by the response and asked the Director if I could contact him in future to possibly try again and he AGREED! A couple months later, I emailed the Director. Not only once but THREE TIMES. I NEVER got a reply or even an acknowledgement that he had received my email. Tried contacting his assistant and of course, NO REPLY.
If Falmouth University and the Business School isn't capable of committing to such important issues such as this which includes immigration and application of visas, why would you even say yes from the beginning. I've wasted 5 months preparing documents and business plans just to be DECLINED.
Hopefully future international students will not go through such a horrible and irresponsible...
Read moreI’m going to be completely honest in this review.
The university is good, if you want to specialise in a career, this university is more than capable. If you work really hard with in your area where you specialise, you can get somewhere.
Here’s why I gave this university a one star. The way I was profiled at this university is absolutely appalling. I decided to shave my hair off before going to university, that was the worst decision of my life. When me and my flat mates were participating in freshers, EVERY single time I always got stopped for a ‘drug search’ literally only me out the group (at the time I didn’t think anything of it), now thinking about it, it was really embarrassing, and I don’t want people thinking I’m that type of person. The amount of stories I heard of racial profiling is absolutely dreadful. They really need to change their attitude and sought themselves out.
I don’t want to scare anyone off if they’re going to this university, please go and have fun, but if you see anything wrong, call...
