This place is awesome, one of the best in Cornwall. Highly recommended. We spent the whole day around here. Spotted quite a few seals in the mutton cove and surrounding area. A lot of safe places on the cliff to sit and relax gaping at the beautiful turquoise expanse around. We spent hours just lying on the grounds facing the sea. We didn't take the boat ride to the tower, but many people do. Instead we returned to the nearest parking field where we parked our cark to spend the rest of the day. The parking field on the cliff overlooks the beach under and the sea where you can spread your picnic mats with a glass of wine. Step further down to the beach on the right where you would see surfers, and can get into the water (we couldn't since we were bot carrying our wet suits - highly recommend). Plethora of Life guards with their watch tower on the cliff contiously monitor with binoculars, while their is a team stationed on the beach as well. Beautiful beautiful place where you can spend whole day. Parking pay and display is reasonably priced, have decently clean toilets given the popular destination. Would love to go again and again (but now everytime time with...
Read moreSuch a stunning place. It's national trust run so if you have a membership it's free parking. The lower carpark gets full quite quickly and they won't open the fields until March and better weather, but there is a tiny car park half way up to the cove where the seals are. It holds a handful of cars and a couple of disabled spaces. That's on solid ground, not field. The coastline itself is just incredible. As well as seeing the seals there is a possibility you'll see dolphins, but also many bird life too, including the beautiful Cornish choughs. The lovely beach near the lighthouse is a little tricky with one of the paths to get to, but if you go down along the coast a little bit more, you'll come to easier path down. You may even get to paddle with seals splashing in the water in...
Read moreThere are several National trust car parks, the middle one is quite tiny, the one at the end of the road is quite big. There are different routes that you can take on the cloff top, you can go to the beach in low tide. There is a cafe at the bottom car park with toilet facilities and there are toilets at the top car park. The views of the lighthouse and St. Ives bay is very nice, you can even bathe in the rock pools. At high tide, you can enjoy the splashing waves on the rocks. At the top of the top car park there is a view point at a bay, where you might see seals sleeping or sunbathing. We spent a whole day here, just exploring the area, the beach. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the beach up to 6pm in the...
