What can I say, this place is phenomenal!!! I’m not from Cornwall but I’ve been coming here since the early 80’s and it’s hardly changed. I actually got engaged on this beach because it really is a special place. The sunsets are the best I’ve ever witnessed, the colours in the sky can leave you amazed. If you’re into landscape/seascape photography then this place will get your juices going. It’s obviously a very popular place so it can get very busy during the school holidays so my advice would be visit either side of that, may or June is probably best for the sunsets. In terms of parking, your best bet really is the big public car park opposite the Sunset Cafe, then if you walk along in the direction of the lighthouse a little you’ll find the steps down to the beach. If you stay up top and walk along a little further there are some public toilets should you need them - not the best granted, but good enough to get you out of a tight spot lol. It’s an amazing...

One of the best things about it is how dog friendly it is – our four-legged friend had the time of their life running along the shoreline and splashing in the surf.
The beach feels wonderfully open and spacious, so even when it’s busy there’s plenty of room to find a quiet patch. The views across to St Ives Bay are stunning, especially at sunset, and the dunes behind the beach are lovely to explore too.
Whether you’re here for a walk, a surf, or simply to relax and take in the fresh sea air, Gwithian has it all. A truly special place and one of the best beaches in Cornwall – we can’t...
Read moreAll I can say is it's breathtaking!! A must-visit in Cornwall. For me, this is one of the best beaches in Cornwall (if not the UK) - beautiful! Feels like you're somewhere tropical like Goa or Thailand!! Little coves and rock pools covered in mussels along the beach to potter about in (nature reserve - so no picking/fishing allowed). Can't recommend it enough and the kids will love it. Protected beach so no hotels overlooking the sea (and the locals are rightly protective about it), but there is a gorgeous little cafe there - the 'Sunset Surf' - gr8 food (amazing fish and chips) and lovely hosts! Go and visit! Pay and park available at the beach. Protected...
