Found this wee gem yesterday. Tucked away be in one of the side lanes near kelvingrove art gallery and museum, small eatery serving South Indian food is not to be missed. It’s the food that wins it through and through. We have medu wada, masala dosa, onion uttappam and a lovely aromatic filter coffee. The aroma of the food transported me off to my mum’s kitchen. The taste of the sambar and white coconut chutney were spot on. It was not spicy but full on flavour. The sambar; for the uninitiated it’s a spiced lentil curry; had fair amounts of drumsticks (no, it’s not chicken legs, it’s the pods of the moringa tree) just like the original recipe would calls for! I haven’t seen that in other sambar serving places in the Glasgow. I would give 10-on-10 just for that. My partner loved the red and the green chutney as well. The chef also made some aromatic filter coffee which was served in a brass tumblers - yo!ho! to that. The seating area is small, like a cosy cafe, so maybe not the best ambience for a restaurant and the young person serving our table was probably inexperienced but the chef made up for it 😊. The prices are good value for money. All in all we came out happy only because of the food! Big thank you to the chef and the sous chef 🙏 Our recommendation…….go for it!

Hands down best South Indian food I got to eat in Glasgow. Being someone from Chennai, I decided to try this place as soon as I saw their Masala Dosa on an Instagram reel. And I am happy we went there, the Masala Dosa was so satisfactory to see I immediately started eating it didn't even wait to take a pic of it. It tasted good, so were the chutneys. The Sambhar was more of a homely version than the typical Udipi Hotel Tiffin Sambhar which I'd have liked to see. We tried the Vikram Vedha parotta, it was so yum with the Mutton gravy that had soft, melt in mouth pieces. The chicken salna was good, Lamb Biryani was very much like the Chennai biryani style but a little oily to my liking however my wife loved it. The starter Guntur Kodi Vepudu recommended by the chef was so yum, it was spicy and flavorful. We also bought a Curd Vada which again was yum. Ambiance: The place is rather small and sometimes it can be hard to find a seat. The mural on the wall was tastefully done. Bottomline: We ate to our heart's content and so satisfied with the authentic South Indian taste. We're definitely going to be back again to try other specials.

Went to this restaurant after reading the numerous positive reviews on our first trip to Glasgow but was really disappointed with the quality of food. We ordered the special dum biriyani, Malabar Paratha and chicken Chettinad. Apart from the parathas everything was below average, the chettinad curry tasted like something else with lamb pieces, it almost had too much ‘daal’ taste to it which is not usual for a chettinad and it tasted like they mixed the lamb pieces with another curry base. The biriyani was underwhelming and portion was very small indeed the smallest plate of biriyani we had. Overall disappointed as we were hoping for better South Indian food in Glasgow as it was our first trip to Glasgow unless if it was one of their bad days. I informed the same to the owner and they look flabbergasted and didn’t offer any response to the comments. In short it’s not monies worth for the quality nor quantity based on our experience. Hope this review will be taken with a positive note and quality is improved

I have been eating here for years but after my last visit I wont be back. The service is usually a bit hit and miss but this time it was horrendous. After 30 minutes the guy running the place finally came to the table, not to take our order, but to demand in a deranged fashion where the guys who were sitting at the table where. We repeatedly told him there was nobody here, this went on for about 90 seconds until he realized that the guys were at the table next to ours, in a room with three tables. We were then ignored for 30 mins even after multiple visits to the counter. The guy in charge then came out and served someone who had arrived 30 mins after us and told me to wait when I protested. We then waited again for another 30 mins, to be told that they didn't have any Gobi 65 (too much hassle more like) then we waited for our food for another 45 mins, well some of our food and no water after repeated request. The food was good but not worth the wait and any other nigh Id have been off. I was then told when I went to pay that "we don't have a card machine", I said "your card machine is right there, you've had one for ages". "Its not working, cash only". I said "how much". "Its £39". We didn't have enough to cover it so I went to the Tesco machine and while walking realised that this was way to much. I challenged the guy running the place when I returned saying "there's no way its that much". His answer was "How am I meant to know?"..... So I read out the prices from HIS menu to him for him to add them up and he then rounded it up to the nearest pound.

I'd suggest give it a miss until they replace this genius with someone else. Its a real pity as it's one of the best curries in town, but its run like...

Sorry !! Today we are busy !! Do you want your food or cancel it. This is what I heard from delivery guy ( himself called as owner)!!!

Today is a bitter experience with this restaurant!! Usually I order from different apps for food. Today I ordered from just eat to this restaurant. They accepted order at 6:30 updated the delivery time as 7:45pm. So, I thought it would be delivered on time. Myself and my daughter are waiting for food. Usually she will have her dinner at 7pm but she likes chicken biryani so waited for food. At 8, I tried to call restaurant thru just eat and it is not even dialling just disconnecting all the time. Then I started a chat with just eat and they contacted restaurant. After 10 mins I got a call saying food is on the way will deliver in 5-10 mins. I asked why it is late when delivery time is 7:45?? Then so called owner of the restaurant said we are busy .. you want food or cancel order. I said that’s not the way to talk with your customer then so called owner started hysterical laugh!! Then I said deliver it!! After 20 mins my order updated saying your order was declined by restaurant!! What?? Without asking me !! Without informing me !! After waiting for couple of hrs !! Is it a joke ??? So, bottom line I strongly don’t recommend this restaurant because of service, irresponsible owner, no time sense, no respect, at Least they haven’t apologised me for not delivering food!! This is the worst experience till date!! Someone cancelled my food order without asking me !! Lol !! After they...

Never thought I would get authentic South Indian (read Tamil Nadu) style food in Glasgow! Madhras Dosa is a cut above the rest of the cookie cutter Indian restaurants in UK, who serve a mish-mash of broad spectrum Indian food that mainly comprise of pakoras and kormas! Here there an array of idli and dosa to choose from, served with a trio of chutney (white coconut, coriander and tomato) with fresh drumstick sambar made in typical Tamil Nadu style. We started off with some spicy tomato rasam that hit the right spot considering the brutal 2 degree weather outside. We then moved on to plain dosa and a chicken dosa that was equally outstanding, and washed down the spicy with a jug full of chilled mango lassi. South Indian first curry, some steamed rice and a Chicken 65 followed. Each dish was better that the other and our Indian food starved taste buds were in culinary heaven. We were offered some Chettinad style lamb biryani made the authentic zeerage samba rice; the owner was testing a new recipe and kindly offered us a portion to sample. The taste and texture of lamb and rice hit the ball out of the park. Paired with a mellow yoghurt raita this spicy biryani (hopefully) will be an upcoming addition on their menu. I think we’re lucky to sample it, considering we were only in Glasgow for a day! Fabulous restaurant, small and homely, serving up some excellent, authentic Tamil fare! Must try if you are in Glasgow and are craving a...
