The Good Brothers Wokingham Road: Delicious Dilemma (Updated)
The Good Brothers on Wokingham Road offers a tantalizing taste of culinary delight. However, be prepared for a potential wait, as my experience involved a longer-than-expected service time.
Flavorful Feast: Let's get to the good stuff! The food at The Good Brothers is absolutely delicious. Here are some highlights:
Full English Breakfast: This classic dish is a true winner. All the components – from the perfectly cooked sausages and crispy bacon to the fluffy eggs and juicy tomatoes – are fresh and bursting with flavor. It's a hearty and satisfying way to start your day. Rainbow Cake: This vibrant dessert is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. Layers of colorful sponge cake are sandwiched between creamy frosting, creating a delightful explosion of sweetness. It's the perfect pick-me-up or celebratory treat. Delicious Baklava: For those with a sweet tooth and a love for Middle Eastern flavors, the baklava at The Good Brothers is a must-try. Layers of flaky phyllo pastry are filled with chopped nuts and drizzled with fragrant syrup, creating a textural and flavorful masterpiece.
A Celebration of Sandwiches: If you're a sandwich enthusiast, The Good Brothers is your haven. Their menu boasts a wide variety of options, from classic fillings to more adventurous combinations. The bread itself deserves a shout-out – fresh, crusty, and the perfect vessel for their mouthwatering fillings.
Coffee Connoisseurs Rejoice: Coffee lovers won't be disappointed either. The Good Brothers offers a selection of expertly brewed coffee that's sure to perk you up. Whether you prefer a strong espresso or a creamy latte, they have something to satisfy your coffee cravings.
The Waiting Game: Now, to address the elephant in the room – the service speed. Unfortunately, during my visit, the wait for food was quite long. It took over an hour for our order to arrive. While the staff were friendly, the delay could be a deal-breaker for some.
The Verdict: The Good Brothers offers some truly top-notch food. However, the slow service might put a damper on the experience for those in a hurry. If you're looking for a delicious and leisurely meal, The Good Brothers could be your perfect spot. But if you're short on time, you might want to consider grabbing a takeaway instead.
Overall: Despite the wait, I would still recommend The Good Brothers for the sheer quality of their food. Just be sure to factor in potential delays when...
Read moreRegularly visit this place for brunch, today we were a group of 12, we had to wait for a table, understandable as we were a large group, when we were seated, the tables were not together but we moved these ourselves. As it was easier to just join the tables so we can sit together. Although awkwardly as there was a pillar between 2 people. The girl simply shrugged her shoulders and apologised, even after waiting for a table around 40mins outside. Anyways, we all ordered online, very quickly 2 teas were sent, we requested the teas to be bought out with the food. However this was ignored and very abruptly ‘Ali’ just ordered his staff “just put them down”. He also informed us that they were busy and have to serve as they do or else mistakes will be made; resulting in orders getting mixed up. When ordering online we all were given order numbers, but when the food came out, no system at all (what is the point of order numbers?) the food plates were left on the table gradually over 30minutes , so the 1st person had finished before the last person even started. The staff serving us all did not engage with anyone as they served the food. The teas were cold by the time food were served and we had to repeatedly ask for cutlery, milk and even butter as they didn’t really pay attention to what was being served to us. Despite the awful service, as we walked out, some of us respectfully thanked the staff…this was not acknowledged by anyone, 3 members of staff stood behind the till area looked away or down! (Extremely rude!) The attitude and service of staff was totally unacceptable and very disappointing considering we have been visiting the place regularly since it opened. I don’t think I will be...
Read moreLovely little restaurant that serves all day breakfasts on the weekend. There's a welcoming atmosphere and they allow dogs, so good if you want breakfast after or during your morning dog walk.
I loved the decor and the music.
Coffees were good but there weren't sweeteners available (not for weight loss - just far prefer coffee with sweeteners than sugar).
The service was very friendly but we asked for a couple of changes to the breakfasts, each of which the server got wrong. As it wasn't the end of the world, and we needed to eat, we didn't bring that to the servers attention.
The quantity of the food was very good, huge portions, but the quality of some of the items, especially the sausages, was not great. Also, and it feels weird saying this, but the breakfast was very carb heavy. I'm 50 years old and I don't think I've ever said that about a cooked breakfast in my life but normally a full breakfast is a bit more protein heavy than carb heavy. Unfortunately, whilst we had high expectations, from the pictures we'd seen, we were disappointed.
If you want high quantity, over quality, then this will be a great place to visit but, unfortunately, I doubt we'll...
