This is a lovely park for a family walk, lots of little playgrounds for various ages dotted about and lots of tree's that are good for climbing. There is plenty of wildlife to see, particularly around the water. We saw Herons, ducks, geese, swans, coots, and so many other birds! There's also a lot of squirrels darting about on their daily business. There's a giant archery target artpiece to be found, the 7 arches viaduct to walk under, and plenty of wooden sculptures. We visited in September and had great success hunting for conkers, there are Horse-chestnut trees dotted all over! There is a huge variety of trees, bushes, plants and foliage, and it's a beautiful sight. My personal favourite was a giant willow tree with a naturally formed den for the kids to play in. The paths were wheelchair accessible. However, the short piece of path from the car park to the main path is a bumpy one. There were no toilets, so I suggest using one before you go, but there are plenty of hidden "tree wee" spots that would suffice if a young child was desperate and unable to wait. Lots of picnic benches and seating throughout the park, so you could easily bring a picnic and make a day out of it. For those who play Pokemon GO, there are plenty of pokestops, and a couple of gyms...

I recently visited this park during the snowfall, and it was absolutely magical. The entire landscape was blanketed in pristine white snow, turning the park into a serene winter wonderland. The trees, dusted with snow, looked straight out of a postcard, and the open fields shimmered beautifully under the soft winter light.
Walking through the park was an unforgettable experience—the crunch of snow underfoot, the crisp, fresh air, and the peaceful silence made it feel like a retreat from the busy world. The pathways were well-maintained, allowing for easy exploration even in snowy conditions.
Families were building snowmen, kids were sledding down gentle hills, and there were plenty of spots to sit and admire the scenery. It’s also a perfect place for photography—the snow-covered benches, frozen lakes, and frosty trees create stunning photo opportunities.
If you’re a nature lover or just looking for a peaceful place to enjoy the beauty of winter, this park is a must-visit. Whether you’re strolling, playing, or simply soaking in the view, the snow adds a magical charm that makes it...
Read moreAt heart it's a great place but as time goes by its getting worse because of the chavs on surans and the dodgy people that hang out there, just last week alone there was about 5 police cars at the car park near the loch because of some dude in blue trackies had done something. What, idk. Police didn't tell me what they had done when I asked them why they were there.
Also I heard that a girl was approached by lads in ballies why she was sat on a bench demanding her stuff.. one had a knife, 'supposedly.
Also allot of people think its perfectly acceptable to let there dogs of leads here, towhich is just not acceptable. If its a gated area specifically for dogs, yes.. but there's none like that here so for the love of jebus keep ya pooch on a leash! not all dogs like an OVER excited dog getting in other dogs space.. so do the world a favour and be a responsible owner 👍
But apart from the bad people it's rather a nice place to walk...
