This is only a small museum, but they are friendly and eagerly welcomed us and are so good with children. There were colouring and brass rubbing activities, a lovely pirate ship toy and figures to play with. Do take your time to talk and read about what you see although we did the best bits in a few minutes. It has lots of stairs and the gaol in the basement is a bit dark and atmospheric. Makes you think how awful to be...

An interesting little place, we visited as we had just been to the Tide and Time Museum a few mins away and got a discount voucher. Close enough to walk between the two. Won't take long to go through the whole place but price reflects this and you can spend 30 mins - 1 hour here if you do the activities and read the info boards. Only negative is there's no toilet on site but there's a library just behind with a toilet...

We went to the special event where the kids could use catapults. That was the only bit of the museum that they enjoyed. My son hated the prison cells he is 6 so we didn't really have a look on that floor. We were in the museum for nearly 2 hours and most of that was because of the catapults. The people who work at tollhouse are really friendly and informative. It was worth a look but now I have seen it we won't...

I'm so glad I got the opportunity to visit here. So much hidden history opened up for people to see and visit. From the costumes to the cell visits this really is a must visit for history fans. Locked up for vagrancy, locked up for stealing food, orders from the king to pass judgment on people. Local caister lady goes in to help people read and right. Sadly I wish I took more photos, yet still do go see for yourselves.

Positive experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff. 3 floors but quite small provides good insight into crime and punishment of the past. Interactive items, including games and dress up. Cells very eerie too! Worth a visit on a rainy day, certainly entertained us and kept us busy.
