Peggoty’s Lounge & Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

Was recommended this place, worst recommendation ever! A couple of the door staff were nice but that's about it, some of the bar staff weren't even interested in serving people. Another customer literally had to get one of the bar staff to serve me (door staff had to step in to serve people) , had a gentleman asking everyone for drugs in the toilets and accused me of doing drugs and to 'sort him out and why would I be in the toilet otherwise' bit odd seeing as needing the toilet is rather normal! Some drinks glasses were dirty and very short supply, the guy who appeared to be bar manager (very rude) was very clearly on drugs himself! Bar manager also kept getting people to buy him drinks, music was good though and most of the other customers were fun! Worst part for me was seeing a young lad being choked on the floor by one of the door staff. Four guys on one young lad who didn't even resist in the slightest, seeing one of the door staff wrap his hand round the guys throat was very disturbing and several people had to tell him to stop as it was completely unacceptable. More de-escalating training needs to be given to door staff as that could have ended very badly! Several people left after seeing how the door staff behaved towards the young man. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone visiting Yarmouth for a night out, based from other reviews on this establishment it wouldn't surprise me if they claimed this review to be fake! Food was delicious 🍴 cocktails were amazing 🍹 the staff were mediocor, however one persevering and respectable young man (blue plaits/dreadlocs) who was more then deserving of a tip, twice over! He made our experience here and for many others on Friday, his crewmates on the night weren't feeling as up for it maybe, but he anchored the bar and was busy on his feet tending to our needs and the needs of the many. Perhaps this wasn't his first rodeo, or perhaps he is just cool as ice under pressure either way a juggernaut in his industry and will flourish, in any environment, he deserves acknowledgement for the cool head he shows when...

We happened to go in here for a drink as someone suggested it. Music was good, plenty of room to dance, drinks reasonably priced. However one of the bouncers needs to seriously have more awareness when checking bags. If you’re checking someones bag then check it and move along. You never know what people have wrong medically or why people carry what they do in their bags, your staff should respect peoples privacy and not make a joke out of it to the crowd. Found her checks of our female bags pretty rude, loud and just an invasion of privacy. People could be going through anything. Pretty shameful...
