This incredibly brilliant and terrific animal attraction in the beautiful town of Hayle, Cornwall. The attraction predominantly has a lot of exotic birds species but there is a little farm with some Donkeys, Sheep and Goats and a Pets Corner with Guinea Pigs and Harvest Mice. The other animals to see are Red Squirrels, Asian Short Clawed Otters and Red Pandas. The exotic birds to see include Choughs, Scarlet McCaws, Hyacinth McCaw, Rainbow Lorikeets, Kea Parrot, Lovebirds, Budgieregars, Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle and a Common Buzzard amongst others and all of the other animals are kept in very spacious enclosures and cages showing their welfare is very well catered for. The attraction takes in part in some brilliant conservation work with The Wild Parrot Trust around the world but also within the Britain Isles with most noteworthy being the work they are doing with the Red Billed Choughs, which were thought once to be extinct in Cornwall where the attractions has bred Choughs and introduced them back into the wild where there numbers have increased and are flourishing, which underlines their magnificent diligent work they have done and is great news. Visitors can also purchase bags of feed to animals in the farm, which is a great interactive experience with the animals to be had. There are flying displays of the birds weather permitted where you can a great glimpse of the birds up close and also learn some interesting facts about them. These flying displays run at various times throughout the day to the end of September. There are also talks on the other animals again throughout the day where you can learn great interesting useful facts about them and also catch great glimpses of them. Whilst you wander this fabulous you can take in some wonderful exotic plant life, which blends in beautifully with the rest of the scenery and gives a lovely exotic feel to it. There are all some Dinosaur Figures to see which blend in well with the rest of the sights and also adds a bit of intrigue to it. For the children there is a Junglebarn play area which is great for them to let their hair and great interactive fun for them. There is a cafe selling delicious food and drink at reasonable prices and a shop a selling of great souvenirs at affordable reasonable prices. Overall this is a throughly enjoyable and lovely heartening place to visit, which makes for a magnificent and exciting memorable day out. Definitely well worth a visit whilst in the Hayle and St Ives area...
Read moreAfter being on the waiting list for the red panda experience, we got our slot and all I can say is wow! Firstly walking around the park before the experience and reading the stories of the birds and why they are there, for example coming from the RSPCA after a house rescue, seeing the amazing work the park are doing to keep birds safe and educating people. I met Max the cockatoo who surprised me by saying hello, an eagle rescued from a house in Birmingham amongst some stunning birds. What this place is doing and the work they do to provide a sanctuary for all birds is truly amazing. The walk through areas were closed due to the break out in bird flu but this did not deprive from the experience walking around, you just didn’t have any land on you and the flamingos are away safe. Seeing the concentration of staff of the safety and welfare of their animals was truly something to admire.
Now onto the experience… Again wow, speechless. My mum and I have done varying animal experiences through the years and this is truly up there. The keepers were full of knowledge and were chatting the whole time giving facts and information as well as answering any questions we had. The overall experience was around 30 minutes and unlike most experiences you spent the entire time feeding the red pandas. We sat on some carpet sheets in the enclosure and given the Mat and food and the red pandas came and went as they pleased through the whole experience. Coming down to eat then going away and cleaning themselves then coming back down for some more. The natural interaction was not forced by the keepers but was full of opportunities to stroke and feed them. Plenty of photo opportunities too! A truly wholesome experience and one of the best we have had. The contribution made to the red panda network, when purchasing this experience, and learning about what that means and the way it helps to keep this endangered animal around was truly moving.
Paradise park is completely self funded, despite taking in rescues from charities such as the RSPCA they receive no funding. Seeing everything they are achieving from their admission and experience sales is astonishing. Please consider going here and supporting the work they do because as you walk around and read the stories, this place needs to exist. Having a small business achieving such amazing things is truly something to admire and support. Honestly a lovely day and an...
Read moreVisited here for the first time yesterday and had an absolutely brilliant day out.
Brought my own bird along with me, Jeff, my Parrotlet. I thought he would absolutely love to see some more parrots but unfortunately we were not allowed to bring him inside despite him being secure in his travel bag. The staff were polite in telling me and I guess I shouldn't have just assumed, perhaps I should have called in advance to see if it would be an issue. I was told it may be down to him having bird flu which I fully understand could be a genuine concern and it was dealt with professionally and apologetically.
We put Jeff back in the car and came back in for a couple of hours whilst nipping out to give him water every so often.
We were fortunate to catch the bird show where several species of parrots were given turns to come out and fly around the courtyard. It was a fantastic display and the young man leading the show was super passionate and knowledgeable.. it looked like he really loves his job and cares for these birds. A fantastic experience.
We then had a wonder around the park and saw an abundance of birds from all over the world. I was shocked by the amount of species being housed there and the conditions generally looked decent for their quality of life. I'm not a huge fan of zoo's and captivity of animals etc but I felt this place was one of the few good ones.
Overall a very good experience, so good I bought a return ticket for just £6 on the way out.
Can easily spend 2-3 hours here without getting bored. £20ish quid a ticket pretty decent value for money I would say.
Looking forward to my return. May email the office with a picture of Jeff's bag to see if any arrangement can be made for him to come on site next time.
(Last photo is me and Jeff in his bag...
