This is a great place for people of all ages, with or without four-legged companions. Car parking is free (but remember to obtain a ticket), and there is a cafe and visitor centre providing an excellent range of refreshments for those who require them. The park itself is extensive and includes many different paths, both in woodland areas and around open grassland. Paths are very well-maintained so they're ideal for users of wheelchairs or people with pushchairs. There are many seats and benches around and interesting play equipment for children - and even a dog agility course! The semi-formal gardens near the house are lovely to walk round, and the community-run kitchen garden is a triumph - it's great to see how the various crops are progressing. This whole area is a real credit to those who run it and provides a highly-valuable, super resource for the local community as well as visitors from further afield. It's perfect for dog-walkers but equally enjoyable for others. Highly...
Read moreGreat place to visit with kids and dogs as there are good paths for scooters and pushchairs all around the park. There are a good variety of landscapes to enjoy from more formal gardens to wooded areas to open grass spaces. There are a few different things around the park for children to play on to keep their interest as you walk around. Currently (April 2021), there is a brilliant coffee van that serves food (sausage rolls, cakes, snacks etc.) and drinks (hot and cold), though it can be a little on the expensive side. The toilets are not currently open as the building is shut due to covid restrictions. The park can get extremely busy at peak times which can be a bit of an issue for social distancing at the moment. I find it best to go at quieter times as there can be a lot of dog walkers there and lots of people with bikes, scooters and pushchairs, which can just make it tricky passing...
Read moreThe stars are for the grounds, the dog walk and kids plsy area, BUT if I was asked to rate the cafe OMG where do I start, in all my 60yrs of life I must say I never come across another cafe that is so disorganised, nunn of the staff seem to know actually what their roll or job is! I waited 30 mins in a queue of 3 people to order a tea and coffee while the staff just seemed to walk around aimlessly scratching their heads , I actually gave up without ordering in the end, I was there so long I actually thought about booking my own funeral ! , there were alot of older people sitting in the seating area, I bet they had probably been there most of their life's waiting to be serviced, someone needs to appoint a supervisor or a manager who actually has some idea on how to...
