An oasis of calm right next to Kings Cross railway line. My 5 year old granddaughter made a bat mask and a spider. We went bug hunting - not many seen but numerous pots to look under. A little boy's dad found a toad which Mattea was able to handle then put back where it was found. Then a walk round the park where we saw a moorhen on Regent Canal. Katherine took us pond dipping and showed the 2 children the right way to use the net and carefully lower into the dish so that we all could see what was there. Many tiny water creatures and a snail were caught and put back into the pond. Two and a half hours well spent between catching trains so thank...

Edit 6mth later.

I never walked past this place in the evening. The area is closed for private corporate hire. What bird would want to stay when such a noisy place full of rowdy people? So you kicked the real birds out so you could have some corporate events for hire. That's even worse than I thought. Definitely not a nature preservation place. Appalling...

I hope you are putting the trees in those gaps. You should not call yourself a nature preservation place as you recked half of the place, cut the trees, grass and wildflowers, just to turn this wildlife oasis to another pavement city cafe. You should plant more trees instead of adding some dead...

We spotted the outskirts of this natural park while strolling around King's Cross waiting for our train. We had an hour to kill so we figured we could check it out, but were surprised at both the size and tranquility it offered! This is a beautiful park with a great variety of birds and plants. All along the paths are information about what the volunteers are growing, what's living there naturally and what we can do to make our world more eco-friendly. It's a great spot to bring children to explore and learn about the wildlife that they co-exist with even in a busy city like London. It's free and absolutely...

I really enjoyed my time at this nature reserve even though it is small it is a great place to visit to escape how busy London is

Great little nature reserve, well looked after and very swish thanks to a major upgrade. There's a great, simple little licensed cafe (Weds-Sun 10am-4pm), with helpful friendly staff, which has brought lots more visitors. It's an excellent side trip if you're around Granary Square. They sell the coffee in compostable containers and have a bin for all the compostable stuff. There are places around the reserve to sit and contemplate, like the floating bird hide in this photo, and well made benches here and there. The cafe side of things has covered seating.
