Dangerous, shoddy quality, purely put together bike. Chain snapped 3 days into use (ridden only twice before and less that 6 miles on it, on standard London roads). "All bikes come tested, quality assurance" Ha I was lucky that the chain snapped 1 minute into setting off, so I was at low speeds on and quiet residential road and close to home. To think how much worse things could have been!
I purchased a riverside 120 bike from this store. The bike was ridden twice on journeys less than 3 miles, on normal roads (home from the store and once more for a short test ride the next day). During this time I did notice that the gear system felt clunky and the bike was making strange noises. Upon taking it out for a ride on the 3rd day of ownership, 1 minute in the chain snapped in the middle of the road. I am fortunate that this happened at low speeds, on a quiet residential road and close to home. As well as this issue, the bike's front brakes randomly partially engage while cycling. The bell is attached upside down. I purchased this bike with quality assurance and that each bike would be tested. What adds to my fury is that my cousin purchased the same bike from the staple's corner branch. He has had no such issues and has better quality lights attached, a correctly aligned bell and additional parts not seen on my bike (he purchased the exact...
Read moreI was genuinely excited to start commuting on my brand-new e-bike, bought through the Cycle to Work scheme. Instead, Decathlon managed to turn that excitement into extreme frustration. • Packing carnage: They tossed the bike and every accessory—D-lock, pump, tools, lights—into ONE box. When I unboxed it, the frame looked like it had gone ten rounds with a cheese grater: roughly ten obvious scratches, chips, and scuffs. So much for “brand-new.” • Out of stock = dead end: The same model is now sold out. Because it was a Cycle to Work purchase, I can’t simply send it back, swap for another, or shop elsewhere. I asked for a partial refund (common sense, right?) but… • Customer-service black hole: – No phone support. – WhatsApp replies are lifeless and feels like you’re talking to a robot (not to mention so slow). – No escalation path, no manager, no accountability.
So here I am: stuck with a scratched “new” bike, out of pocket, and no practical solution offered. The whole experience screams careless packaging and a customer-service team that’s totally powerless and pointless. Decathlon, you’ve turned what should have been a simple purchase into a drawn-out headache.
I am not planning on shopping with Decathlon ever again nor recommend it to anyone. For sure, I would not recommend Decathlon for Cycle to...
Read moreGreat choice of products as always with Decathlon. Very erratic quality of service unfortunately. Last came on a Saturday to buy a lock for my bicycle : asked if I could leave my bicycle while I was quickly buying a lock. The person upstairs (who has a bicycle rack behind him), told me he would not do it (with both elbows on the counter) without any explanation and given the behaviour with no intention to help customers… So came down to the shop with my bicycle arrived at the cycling corner of the shop. No one there to help. Two customers who were trying bicycles told me there was no one to help. So just bought a lock quickly without help (although had questions) when I paid, I gave some feedback to the cashier who asked me if I would be ok to give my feedback to the manager of the shop. The made 2 announcements, but no manager reacting or coming (maybe busy chatting somewhere with the bicycle person?). Out of embarrassment for me waiting for too long, the cashier sent me a random salesperson to take my feedback. Was told someone would reach out. Obviously did not...
