It is a lovely park. I like the way it has been segmented into different sections. A new community garden is being created by the volunteers by the King Charles Crescent. Surprisingly it doesn't get very crowded. The grounds get a bit soggy during the rainy season.

A beautiful park with varied meadow, wood and pond areas. There are many possible walks possible through the park, showing up different vistas as you pass through it.

I'd been past Fishponds LOADS over the years and never thought to go in, in fact it was the game Ingress that made me enter, anyway I digress... Why would I go into an 'open space'? This name really puts me off and I can only think that it's not good enough to be a park and is instead some area the local council decided not to develop and leave it as an 'open space'. This is a park and you should scream PARK to the skies. It's lovely and a real hidden gem. Inside, yes, there is open space, lovely spots to have a picnic but you'll also find a large pond with loads of wildlife (2 resident swans by the looks of things), a smaller pond (less impressive) and a gated off 'wilder' area with some beautiful, beautiful flora. I've now been here in every season and love to see how it changes. There is a totum pole here which is apparently a feature of the place, but it's been on its side since my...

This park is in itself quite nice, but suffers from terrible neglect by the local council. Shrubbery and trees spend months overgrown, only to be absolutely butchered by the tree surgeons when they finally do turn up. Issues like falling trees are left for months at a time without being addressed. The pumps for the ponds stopped working almost a full year ago and the council has just ignored it, while the water has festered, looks polluted and smells of sulphur. It could be much nicer if it was cared for, but it is still quite a nice unique space in the middle of the area, and good for a relaxing short stroll (it's quite small).

Update - since Summer 2022, both of the ponds have almost completely dried up, with not much more than a layer of scum in some mud representing what were...

Beautifully maintained and with vibrant freshness and colour in the trees and flowers, Fishponds Park is also a haven for a variety of wildlife. It was a joy to be there again in today's sunshine, sharing its splendour with other individuals and families all of whom offered the universal respect of social distancing to ensure maximum availability to all who need this wonderful...
