I love being on the common with my dogs. I rarely join the march around the perimeter road preferring instead to follow the mown paths around the edges or dropping down on the well maintained paths along Whyteleafe Bank, in awe at the swathes of cowslips (right now) and all the other wild flowers emerging from the cleared slopes. There has been an amazing amount of clearance over the past 10 years, creating new paths, views, accessibility etc. The common is so much more than the airfield and I highly recommend following new paths...
Read moreI was born nearby (Kenley Lane) and spent most of my childhood (up until 2007) visiting the common. It’s a great place to walk your dog with easy access to Kenley Aerodrome. There are great views of Riddlesdown and the valley (Whyteleafe) from the fields bordering the aerodrome. It tends to be quieter than its counterparts Coulsdon and Riddlesdown, so is ideal for a quieter walk.
