Whyteleafe Pizza & Grill — Restaurant in Tandridge

Very disappointed with a much anticipated large group pre Xmas booking for the whole restaurant made many weeks prior, having to be cancelled at short notice. Restaurant management decided to change their policy just a few days prior to our booking and demanded a substantial surcharge to cover the fact that we had booked the whole venue exclusively for 70 guests. Something the restaurant happily agreed to at point of booking by the way and provided a short set menu.

This last minute policy change forced a cancellation and we were fortunate to hold our annual event at the Bollywood restaurant down the road instead, whose staff, conversely, offered outstanding service and food.

I understand a restaurant would want to maximise a profit on a weekend booking, but we had already paid 50% of the costs you asked for and made plans, so moving the goalposts like this so close to the event speaks volumes about your true approach to service and short term profiteering.

This is fairly local to me and I have ordered from here countless times and always go for the Peri Peri strips meal. The taste is absolutely amazing and I would have to say I prefer it to Nando's. I have noticed however over the past 2 months a small dip in the quality, the strips do not appear to have as much sauce as they used to and also I would normally get dips in the bag too at no extra cost which do not appear to be given anymore which is a real shame. Hopefully this blip will not continue as the place has become a favorite of mine over the last 3 years. I have never actually eat in the restaurant area but it does look very nice with great decor, not that its important as its the food that matters the most. Finally I noticed when ordering via the app the price is creeping up, £1 more then normal, which is not too far off Nando's so I think they need to review this in order to keep a competitive edge.
