The micropub revolution comes to Whyteleafe.
In a nutshell, a micropub is usually a long vacant shop converted into a small bar which serve a constantly changing range of real ale normally from small independent brewers. Strictly no lager, no music and no TVs nor fruit machines. And very little food to speak of.
The emphasis on excellent beer and convivial chat.
It won’t please everyone but is a niche which really does suit a lot of people who want a nice quiet drink.
The Radius Arms falls nicely into this category. Run by a Vince, an erstwhile bus driver with a passion for proper beer a friendly welcome is guaranteed. It not just beer, he has a growing range of “real” ciders and wine. Still no lager though!
You can see his eight racked up casks at the back and the available range chalked up by Vince’s little bar.
It really is an excellent pub and worth travelling to. Just a short walk from Whyteleafe FC. For more info follow...

If you want to to feel like an errant youth again and are still below 50, this...
Read moreI visited this wonderful micropub about a week ago when they had their first ever music afternoon on a Sunday. The artist was outstanding and so was everything else about the venue. Many micropubs are minimalist but this place is full of character with pump clips adorning the ceiling. The regular crowd and the landlord are the friendliest characters you could wish to meet. The beer is sublime and reasonably priced and so I can recommend you go out of your way to...
