We had our multicultural wedding & reception at Lambeth Town Hall in April 2023, and Lianne & the venues team were essential in making our day a success. We explored various locations, and wanted to find a dry hire venue so that we could bring in our own catering and host a fully vegan wedding. Lambeth Town Hall provided everything we needed and was an excellent fit with our values. Lianne was very helpful by sharing options, costs & information proactively to get things underway. We asked Lianne & team many questions over the months leading to the event, and she always responded with patience & understanding. When there were limitations, Lianne quickly provided workarounds and other recommendations to help. We thoroughly enjoyed the Wedding Fair, where we discovered some vendors who we brought on for the day.
All payments had to be made over the phone and sometimes this was not available - but we got there in the end. It is also a listed building, therefore there are some restrictions.
Our wedding day was amazing, and we owe a large part of it to Lambeth Town Hall and the incredible team there. Our guests loved the grand Council Chamber for the ceremony (different team, but our registrar was fantastic), the Courtyard for drinks, and beautiful, understated Assembly Hall/Foyer for dinner and evening reception (perfect floor for a full-on céilí!). We had a fairly big wedding of 140 day guests, with a total of 160 for the evening, and it was lovely to see Lianne the evening of our wedding! The facilities all worked well, and the Venues team, along with our on-the-day coordinator, ensured everything ran smoothly. We would happily (would love to!) have the day all over again in Lambeth Town Hall, which will always hold a special place...
Read moreI was a regular visitor to Lambeth Town Hall (2018-22) for their monthly Ballroom & Latin Tea Dances as the main hall has a lovely wooden floor.
My first visit was in 2018 to celebrate the first mixed race Tea Dance over 50 years ago in this very venue when racial tension were high, but dance was a superb panacea.
Spacious, with a stage for other productions.Ground floor ladies toilets are light airy and modern if compact, with mirrors and although only three cubicles works well enough given the small Edwardian spaces allowed for modern needs.
Council staff are always friendly and many's the time they've joined us on the dance floor (don't tell their boss!)
It's lovely to sit outside in their secluded courtyard where people often have lunch or just gather, it's a real suntrap.
Brixton (Victoria Line) is the nearest tube station being about 3 minutes away.Turn left onto the main road as you exit the station, cross to your right at the traffic lights then the second pedestrian crossing to the left at that junction (like a zig zag) and you're facing the huge building. Walk right alongside the building as our event entrance is along that road to the...
Read moreI never get any support from the council since i moved here 7 months ago. When i asked for a wheel bin at first they said they will let me know but they never contacted me,then after writing more than 7 emails and calling them every 2 weeks for any update they said that i can't have a wheel bin because my flat is above the shop, even though i explained them that i have space to store the bin on the back entrance of the property. Accepting this fact i asked several time to have recycling bags which i never recieved, their answer was always the same, we run out of it and we will send it to you at the next delivery which never happen. I was really upset and i couldn't handle it anymore and i keep on calling them all the time losing hours on the phone waiting for the system to pass me the call, then after complaining again their answer was: THROW YOUR RUBBISH ON THE STREET and this what im continuously doing all the time while the owner of the shops on wandsworth road swear at me. im paying 110£ per month of council tax for a service i never even received. Please Help me how to...
